I did it! I finished with a time of 2:40 which is sloooooooow but I have my sights set on doing more and getting faster and maybe even a full next year. (gulp)
But first things first, I got blisters. I got one on my instep right near the ball of my big toe and then one on my second toe that started on the top of my toe and kind of went under my toenail which is the exact same spot I got one during my 15k in December before I switched to Brooks Raveannas.
So, my husband says I probably need different shoes which sucks because I love the Raveannas and they usually feel great. Is this definitely a shoe issue or something else?

Many congrats to you! Great job!!
Blisters aren't necessarily shoe-related. More likely, they are sock-related. What socks are you wearing? There are some great anti-blister socks. And I am a very liberal user of body glide and/or Aquaphor on my feet and toes.
My blister issues were also sock related, not shoes. Now I run in Thorlo or Features socks, I'll add Vaseline back in the mix when the weather gets warmer.
Same same what everyone else said about investing in good socks. I've not had a single blister since switching to Balegas. They aren't cheap as far as socks go, but cheaper than the process of finding a different shoe.
Congratulations on your race!! Sounds like some exiting goals for the future too.
I also like Thorlo socks like skwcm80. My feet aren't too picky though as long as I'm in an athletic / tech sock of some sort. Good luck w/ the blister control!
Congratulations on your first half!! And ditto others on the socks. I am not that picky about brands, but good ones and bodyglide on the feet/toes can make a world of difference.
Congratulations on your first half!!! I'll ditto the others and say that the socks definitely matter. I'd experiment a bit. I have some Balegas I love, that are a bit thicker. However, I'll sometimes still get some rubbing and minor blistering when I get to a new long run mileage milestone, so it could be that too.
Love of my life baby boy born 11/11. One and done not by choice; 3 years of TTC yielded 4 MMC and 2 CPs, through 4 IUIs and 2 IVFs. Focusing on making the world a better place instead...and running.
I wear some Asics ( I think) socks I just picked up at Dick's one day. They are thin and pink. That's all I know.
Congratulations on your first half!!
I wear Balega socks and have never gotten blisters. I love those socks. Also make sure your shoes are big enough-I get mine 1/2 size bigger than I normally wear.
