Lots of hugs. You're in western PA, right? I wonder if there's an autism clinic/research dept. at Pitt. One the academic centers near us has a fantastic office that has social workers that help guide parents through different resources, therapies, etc.
We did the eval at UPMC Children's hospital - I thought they were very good. Â They have an Autism Center, but the person did not refer us for further evals... DS is high functioning so he might not need the extra care in that regard. Â They gave me a bunch of resources, including a social skills thing which I think will be the most important thing for DS... it's his main weakness.
That's great that you're already hooked up with UPMC! I'm sure they are a great resource for questions or anything else you or your family may need.
Hugs. whenever you post I always think you have a fabulous house and such smart and cute kids, and that is still so true. You guys are doing such a great job as parents.

Hugs. There are encouraging things I want to say as a fellow special needs mom, but only the cliche ones are coming to me. D-day is big. Take care of yourself.
For more casual reading, one of my favorite bloggers posted a lot about her journey with her oldest son. Her blog is amalah . com. If you take a look at her archives she has a lot of posts. Not so many now because he is doing super well.
Just wanted to say I am thinking of you and hope this gets you guys pointed in the right direction. My 7 year old went in for testing a few weeks ago. We are waiting for our follow-up appointment.
Hugs to your son and your family. That had to be a really tough thing to hear, expected or not.
I have worked with children on the spectrum in a special arts program geared towards special needs children, and have seen wonderful, amazing things come out of these kids over time. They still have so much to offer the world, and so much emotion in them that they are capable of expressing. It's truly beautiful to see. I wish good things to come for your family.
