Odd question. If you work from home, what do you wear on your feet during the day?
I am a big fan of being barefoot or in my slippers but I realize that after a couple of days, my back & feet start to hurt. I know it's because I'm not wearing shoes. (If I wear my sneakers during the week I work from home, I don't get the same pain). But, I hate wearing my shoes inside. On a normal day, the minute I walk through our door, I immediately take my shoes off.
Just curious as to what others wear. I may have to look into some sort of slipper with support? (if they make such a thing)
I was just going to suggest the same thing as mysticmuffin. Find a pair of sandals or slippers that are comfy and easy to slip on and off so you can be barefoot when you're sitting down and slip them back on when you need to get up.
I sit cross legged in my chair because I'm short and otherwise my legs just dangle uncomfortably. I wear socks and slippers all year round because my office is in the basement.

When it's warm I am barefoot. The rest of the time I wear socks with slippers. My slippers have a fairly rigid sole and added an insert for some extra arch support.
I don't work from home but I'm lazy so I don't always leave the house on weekend days During the winter, I live in my Ugg slippers. They have a decent amount of real shoe structure, for slippers (our GC wears them as real shoes at work -- ha!)
If anything, I find it uncomfortable to wear shoes when I have to go in to the office. (I'll often slip off my work shoes if I can when there, at least while seated at a desk...) I'm no help.
But, maybe you could find a pair of shoes and designate them as "indoor shoes"? Wear them at home, but not outside?
I'm a lurker, but I'll chime in on this one. I love my Vionic sandals and slippers. Super comfy but with actual arch support.
These are the slippers I have as well. I've been home since January and wear them everyday.
Another Vionic Orthaheel vote. Neighbor, H and I have all taken to wearing these sandals or slippers (if it's cold/damp) around the house and it's made a real difference. Our houses have tile floors that were messing with our feet, legs and back.
I wear an older version of these Merrells as I am a member of the fugly shoe club. And I have bad knees and feet so need more support than slippers/flipflops/etc provide. I also have a pair in my vehicle for when I'm actually in the office and have to pull super long/overnight hours.
My feet actually feel better on my WFH days, so I'm not helpful - I'm largely barefoot, or I have a pair of leather LL Bean slippers that are fur lined.
I wear slippers, but I had the same issue - my feet hurt. For me, it was because I walk differently when I'm bare-footed rather than wearing shoes. So I had to consciously change how I walked around the house. Since I did that, the foot pain has gone away.
This is strange to me. Are you using a standing desk? If not, I don't see how this could be the reason since it sounds like you are barefoot while you are not working. Do you walk around your house more during the work day than you do when you are at home and not working?
I would consider other causes, like your chair. I had back issues until I invested in a nice chair.
Thanks all, I definitely walk alot more when I wfh. I know that is strange but since I have the ability, I change locations in the house. There is definitely a difference if I'm wearing shoes vs barefoot / slippers. I notice it on the weekends too when we are doing things around the house and I am barefoot vs in shoes.

Among other things, I have a Morton's Neuroma and it flairs up more/worse when I go without wearing shoes for too long --has nothing to do with actually putting weight on the foot. Since I've been wearing correct (fugly) shoes mostly for the last ~20 years, it really only starts to bother me when I've been sick and off my feet a whole lot (and not wearing any shoes) or when I severely sprained that foot and couldn't wear a shoe at all for several weeks. I wear the Merrells all day while at my desk, take them off when I relax on the couch and sleep--doesn't hurt. If I only wear them when I'm actually walking, it will start to hurt.
Uggs in the winter (which also lets me keep my thermostat lower) and either barefoot or flip flops in the summer. I also don't usually wear real shoes inside the house, especially in winter, because of the floors. My Uggs are bailey button boots, not slippers, but I don't wear them outside. Partially because I don't want them to get nasty and partially because I want something that's exclusively for indoors.
When I had issues with planter fasciitis, I wore thick Crocs flip flops. I'd try anything that you can use as "inside only" shoes that make you feel better.
Slippers or socks. I have a little stool under my desk that I rest my feet on for optimal alignment. I also take frequent breaks away from my desk to not screw up my back from sitting still for too long.
