I'm starting the randoms thread today, because I have some random bitching to do.
Remember the university who fired me (crazy Dean)? I received a letter from them yesterday saying they have been unable to collect my parking dues since October (the month I was fired) and that I now owe $864.50 to cover my parking from November 2014 to June 2016, which is when my employee parking decal apparently would have expired. If I don't pay, they will send this to collections.
I called this morning to inform them that I was terminated, and that I scraped the sticker off of my car and threw it away. In all of my conversations with the college Chief of Staff, my union, and with university HR around the time of my termination I was never told I had to return the stupid parking sticker. When I called the parking office this morning the woman said, "YOU THREW YOUR STICKER AWAY???" like the concept was unbelievable. I told her that yes, I did, since I was terminated and didn't need or want the sticker on my car anymore.
I can now write a letter to a higher up parking official to appeal this, but since I can't turn in the damn sticker they may still choose to send this collections if my appeal is denied. Seriously, this is just adding insult to injury.
I am now good and sick, weather sucks and trying to pack for Florida...we are driving with the cats (who hate each other) for 18 hours. Old lady cat pukes for the first hour. Good times ahead.
That is stupid. We have car decals and they made me file a lost property report when H threw it away. Since I didn't have the sticker, they made me submit all new paperwork - proof of insurance, registration, etc. Then, they changed out the stickers four months later and didn't care that everyone threw them away.
My random is I'm at the vet and they seem miffed(?) or something that I'm getting "everything" done today. I'm getting annual check ups, shots, microchips for two, and asking them to look at an issue with one cat's eyes.
The cats hate car rides and the vet. Isn't it normal to want to minimize the number of times I have to put them in the car and bring them? I made it clear when I was making the appointment that I wanted all of these things...

Uh yeah, one trip it is. We just called the vet and they wanted have the cat seen for flea/tick meds...but he was just there a couple of months ago. Um no, I am sorry you don't need to make extra $$ on a vet visit every time we call you for regular treatment. Not sure why they didn't give us more flea tick treatment stuff last time Mr. P took him anyway. No way am I staying in a "pet friendly" hotel without preventative meds.
spunkarella, we always do as much as possible in one visit for our four cats. Does your vet charge per visit? Are they just trying to make you come in more often so they can charge more doctor visit fees?
Bella that is crazy!!! I feel just thinking about it!!
My Tuesday bitching is that I am curious if there is an official "rule" about the speed with which you merge onto a major highway. The car in front of me today SLOWED DOWN while merging, as if to do it cautiously, meanwhile there was a tractor trailor going normal speed behind us. Uhhhhh yeah, you need to SPEED UP when merging so you can be at least on par with the traffic you are merging into!!! The tractor trailor ended up running that car (and therefore me) off the road. Luckily traffic behind it was light so we were able to merge. I was much more angry at the car in front of me than the tractor trailor. The car in front of me could have easily merged in had they sped up instead of slowed down.
Today is the children's hospital fundraiser where volunteers sell newspapers on street corners. I was driving to meet a friend for a run at 430 this am and someone scared the shit out of me by waiving a paper In front of my windshield. I was not prepared for that.
Work sent me all the newly-branded official clothing last week, so I'll have it in time for my meetings next week.
However, they didn't warn me that instead of going with polo shirts, they opted for stark white button down shirts that are so sheer you can almost make out freckles vs. skin thru the fabric. So I need to find some camisoles/shells/undershirts/_something_ to wear under them, pronto. With no car available for me to use except outside of DH's work hours. This should be fun.
Anyone have a good suggestion on where to find this sort of thing in plus sizes? It's been years (maybe decades?) since I needed a wardrobe item like this...
I took Wyatt out on the leash today for 10 minutes. We had some....growing pains. One, he's trying to learn that I need him to walk like a big boy, not just for the trainer. I'm bleeding on my finger, presumably because he went for his treat too aggressively, when we were done he tucked his put down and ran all over the house with his stuffed chicken cause he was so proud/frustrated, and a guy was out running and said "Don't worry, you'll get it eventually, Buddy."

OMFG, CW.
WOULD IT KILL YOU TO PASS ALONG PERTINENT INFORMATION? If I hear the phrase "Oh, I forgot to tell you about this meeting change/schedule change/addition to the workload/subtraction to the workload one more damn time today....
My random is that I don't understand the need for 5 conference calls for every little thing.
I am an external facing employee in my organization, meaning that I SHOULD be spending at least 50% of my time out in the community meeting with external folks. This is the part of the job I love. However, I realized this morning I currently have 8.5 hours of internal meetings per week recurring- not counting all the new ones that pop up. Assuming I work a normal 40 hour work week (HA!), 28.5 of them are now taken up my meetings. I live in LA, so add in some travel time for the outside meetings. When do I have time to do anything else?
hamster, kudos to you for sticking with the training! I have given up on Crash and just let him run wild. Dog Mom of the Year right here.
To be fair, I've mostly just given somebody $1000 to deal with it. Except he's not done, and I don't want to pay more. He's got the foundation at least, I just have to not screw him up now.
I wanted to take him to the store to pick out a toy for this birthday, but now I think he may not be ready for such a big outing like I'd hoped.
My random is that BL just pulled me into the office to praise my work over the last 18 months. Lol for DAYS! She's doing damage control after a coworker resigned abruptly yesterday. I don't trust a damn thing she says or believe that it's sincere. Also, BL was wearing the same sweater she was wearing when she broke the news about firing another coworker at this time last year.
Tried on all my spring and summer clothes last weekend. I need a new white pair of shorts & a new bathing suit cover up but other than that, I think I'm good. Now if it would just warm up.

That is crazy talk Bella. Do they really expect people to waste precious time every so carefully pulling off a stoker to return to them when they're finished. Even if I did care to do that, those things are hard to pull off. If it's thsf BG of a deal, perhaps hey should go to hanging tags and put on there, return when no longer needed.
My random, I finally reconciled our 2014 FSA with only seven cents left over. We had probably at least a thousan it's in bills, but every little bit counts.
