I've been seeing the same hair stylist for more than 10 years. A couple of years ago, she opened her own salon, and I continued to see her, despite the new place being a lot further away (and in an area where parking isn't terribly easy). She's a sweetheart, and she's always done a great job with my hair. However, since she opened the new place, I find myself putting off my haircuts more and more because of the inconvenience of going there.
So, I made an appointment to try a new place that's within walking distance of my house. I feel kind of bad about it. I love my stylist and the job she does, but that doesn't help me if I can never manage to get myself to her!

I know how you feel! My BFF is a hair stylist and she always manages to give me the perfect cut. But I don't see her very often, so when I do get to see her, I don't want to make her feel like I'm just coming to see her so she'll cut my hair. I've gone to a few different local salons, and I always have to text her to confess to my infidelity.
I understand the feeling! But like you said, it comes down to not just quality, but convenience. I would try a couple different salons and see if you find anyone you like as much as her.
I guess one advantage of getting my hair cut once a year is that I've never felt loyalty to a stylist. lol
See, that's about the rate I've been going lately, but that's largely due to the fact that it's inconvenient to go to the stylist I've had for so long. Before she started her own place, went 3-4 times a year.

Definitely time for a more convenient location! I hope you like the new place.

The verdict: New stylist did a good job. However, I'm not sure if it's just because I'm comparing her to the stylist I've seen for so long, but there was something about her that I didn't like--actually, those aren't even the right words. I feel like something wasn't clicking I guess. Anyhow, I'm not sure if I'll go back to her or not. But here's the cut. Believe it or not, this is with 3-4 inches taken off (although it looks a lot longer here since it's straight and I usually wear it wavy).
