So, I have these brand new work shirts, complete with company logo. They look spiffy. They fit quite nicely. They look freaking sheer. Sheer enough that I _need_ to wear something underneath them.
I don't buy shirts this sheer on purpose. So, I don't own anything suitable to wear underneath them. And, I'm really not sure exactly _what_ I should wear underneath. Should it be tight-fitting? Body-skimming? The shirt is bright white, so I'm guessing I should go with white underneath... I'm guessing someone on here knows what would be normal/appropriate.
(holy crap, that's a crazy link) It's my best guess, but as mentioned, I'm really just guessing at what I need...
I wear plus size, too, so I know that'll limit my options. I also need to shop in store, or pay for rush shipping, because I fly out early on Monday, and our mail has (so far) been a bit sporadic at the new address.
Thankfully, we now live near shopping again, so I've got all kinds of options where I can hunt down something. Including a Lane Bryant (and most shops...).
It looks like I at least have the right idea. I like the short sleeve idea, because it sucks to have to mess with fallen bra straps when you are the only woman in the room... (pretty normal in my industry)

I like white shirts that are somewhat sheer, so I have several of these microfiber camis from Target. Nude for under white, not white. I'm not sure about sizing, but if these wouldn't work for you, it should give you a good idea of what might.
Ah, thanks! Ivory/Nude instead white. Makes sense.
I tried finding something on the target website, but holy crap, that site sucks! It looks like they may have some options, too. There is a JC Penny's (that Worthington shell/tank) and a Target within about 10-15 minutes of home, and five minutes between them, so I can easily check both.
I've got six days of meetings on this trip. I'm assuming I need either 6 of these, or I need to wash them between wears...
I would check department stores. Talbot's or Lane Bryant might also have something. Possibly Avenue, but I'm not as familiar with their undergarments. If you can wear 2X, Jockey probably has something appropriate.
So, I managed to sneak out to JCP to try on the shell I first posted. The posters that mentioned sleeves were a bad idea were right (at least with the sleeved options I tried), and I found that I didn't like the thin strap tank/camis, so I think this one was a good fit. You guys can laugh at me, but I brought the work shirt in with me to try on over the shells/tanks/camiswhatever-they-are-called.
However, the darn work shirt is so thin that it doesn't really matter if I'm wearing white/ivory/nude/purple polkadots - it's going to be supremely easy to see the undershirt. The store only had one ivory, so I bought it, and a couple white ones to see me thru this trip - that's enough I can wash them in the hotel sink and have time for them to dry...
I have a bunch in white and a bunch in black. I don't care, I wear white under white. But I always wear a nude bra.
Also, if your bra staps are slipping off your shoulders, you are either wearing the wrong size or your bra has gotten stretched out. A properly fitting bra should not have straps sliding/slipping down.
I would not go with white, which will glare under a sheer blouse. I'd go with a color that matches your skin tone.
Frankly, white is probably the closest match. I really am that pasty white... (if there is much colour to me, it's more pink than anything resembling what I saw being called "nude" today)
And, at this point, these will have to do for the trip. My schedule before I leave is too darn tight to get out to go looking for more tops before I leave, and there's no time to get any more shipped.
Honestly, I'll be in tech meetings all day with a bunch of dudes who aren't going to care what I'm wearing, so it really will be OK for me to wear the white shells...

I was going to say this the other day. I can't wear nude as it shows up more against my ghastly white skin more than white or ivory. I'm sure whatever you pick won't be noticed by tech dudes.
