clseale, the Heritage Inn was good. The rooms were older and not remarkable, but we were only there to sleep so it was fine. The view was amazing from our balcony. Sunsets divine!
The onsite restaurant, bar, and pool we utilized and thoroughly enjoyed. The parking was tight especially in the early evenings when the bar/restaurant was open. During the day, the place was so quiet and peaceful.
If you have any specific questions let me know. Happy planning!
Awesome! I'm so glad you had a great trip. Thanks for the review & all of the help!
seabitch, questions for you! Ugh. So there was some stuff up in the air w/DH's family & then him potentially changing jobs, that delayed the planning of the trip. We finally decided to start booking stuff, but of course I am no longer thrilled w/my flight options. I have the hotel booked (we're going w/the Lighthouse Villas in Cane Garden Bay), but I have a question about flights. If our flight were to get in at 2:55 PM, is it reasonable to think that we can catch the last ferry (4:30 PM) from Charlotte Amalie? There's a flight that gets in an hour earlier, but it would cost an extra $150. Flights are already more than I originally wanted to spend, so while we CAN do that, I'd rather not, if we can make the 4:30 ferry. This is assuming that there are no flight delays...but we only have one connection out of Miami, so I'm not overly concerned.
Second question, what rental car company do you use? Is a jeep/SUV the way to go?
ETA: One more question! Which are your favorite snorkeling spots?
You can make the Charolette Amalie ferry but don't dawdle. If your flight gets in on time and you do carrying only you should be fine. Go thru the airport to the taxi stand and tell them you want to make that ferry. The other way to go is to call a guy Ned Kevin (not sure of his last name) and he will pick you up and get you to the ferry. He will even call the ferry and have them hold if he can get you there.
We rent from Enterprise who I believe is advertised as National online. We work with the Wesr End office vs Roadtown. We prefer to go thru the ferry and customs at the Wesr End. It is closer to where you are staying also. We rent a four wheel drive. The roads are steep and windy and it can get slippery after a rain.
Snorkel spots we like are in Smugglers Cove and Brewer Bay. We tried to get to a new bay last trip but couldn't reach it. It is called Laca Flow Beach or Rugue Bay.
Be sure to go to Jost for a day trip. There is someone in CGB who Will take you in his water taxi across.
Happy planning! We are back down on Jost around Halloween.
