Has anyone been to the new Aquarium at Great Lakes Crossing? I'm looking for something to take J to this weekend. I had originally thought the zoo in Winter could be fun but it's supposed to be bitter cold this weekend again.
Yes we have been there. Be sure to buy tix online and reserve your time or you may not be able to get in. It has been sold out a lot since it just opened. It's cute! We bought an annual pass.
We might have to plan a trip. DS loves fish! The Baltimore aquarium is the only one I've been to and they don't allow strollers. Is this one like that too? I didn't see it in the visitor information.

We took our double stroller in! They are very kid friendly there
I refuse to pay those prices for an aquarium at a mall. lol. I've heard you can do it all in under an hour but I've also heard some positive things about it too. A friend raved about it (her kids are 2&5) Honestly though, I'd do the A2 kids museum or even the Belle Isle aquarium.
The Zoo is having one of their Wild Winter weekends this weekend (link). Hot cocoa, activities, and a scavenger hunt. I was thinking of going to that but if it's bitterly cold, then newp.

Or any other suggestions?
If you want to do the zoo, this weekend is actually supposed to be in the high 30's.

The forecasted high in Detroit on Saturday is 41 and 39 on Sunday.
You and I have very different definitions of "bitter cold."

I learned this the hard way. It was the worst and biggest waste of $70. We went with friends and DS was old enough to not want to sit still/hang out in the carrier and young enough to not give a crap about the fish. I ended up sitting in the lobby with him for an hour or so and let DH look at sharks with our friends.
I've seen a few of my parent (and non-parent) friends going to the Belle Isle Conservatory lately as well. I've never been, but I hear it's like the tropics Might be a fun activity to tack that on with the BI Aquarium and maybe the Nature Zoo if it's warm enough.

Ugh that's horrible. I'm not sure if I should brave it or not. There's a wall of fish tanks at meijer. It's right down the road, free and he will watch those fish for 45 minutes. in at grocery cart. Hmmm....maybe i get DH to come and they sit and watch fish and i do grocery shopping. 2 birds with 1 stone!
Does your son like Legos? There is a Lego play place called Brick It Up that is fairly new in Clarkston. They have a very cool ramp for racing cars that you build. It's on Balwdin near Clarkston Road.
We also like the Henry Ford and The Rouge Plant tour.
Also, when the weather warms up a bit, there is the Bloomfield Adventure Park, which is a ropes course with ziplines, etc. It starts at ages 5 and up.
My kids also love the Flint Children's Museum.
These are our favorite places to go these days.
We're headed up to Splash Village for an overnight at the water park in Frankenmouth this weekend. I'm planning to close my eyes and pretend I am on a beach somewhere.

I just saw that. I have no idea what I was thinking!

Yeah, I was just going to say, it's supposed to be 42 here according to my weather site. Practically bikini weather around here!
If you don't mind a drive, the imagination station in Toledo is fantastic.
we love Imagination Station! not sure where you are but I'm from Monroe (south east corner of the state) so Toledo is just across the border and easy to get to.
Dude. Don't say that cause now if we go and I like bump into someone I'll think In my head "what if that was karma?" Is there a batsignal or a handshake or something that I should try?
I did that for weeks before I realized toledo doesn't live here.

Texas now, but just east of Toledo when we visit. Wel'll be out that way again in late June. I heard there's an awesome farmers' market in Monroe.
