Good photography spots in NYC?

Random, but I got a SLR camera a few months ago. Right now I'm taking a photography class. We have our final project next week. Due to the weather and our assignments I haven't done a lot of outdoor shooting. I'm going to NYC this weekend and then I'll be there again on Wed. I think it'll be the perfect opportunity to get some decent scenery. 

I go to NYC often, but I'm drawing a blank on where would be 1 good spot to camp out and take some pics for an hour or 2.  

Any suggestions? (I know there are a lot of nyc people but those are the first that popped in my head!)

Underneath the Brooklyn Bridge/Brooklyn Promenade

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_Line_(New_York_City) I went here in the summer and it was very nice. Not sure how it is in the winter. You can check it out.
