-more gladiator sandals? NOOOOOOOOOO. -big NOOOOOOOOO to most of the "trends" this year. Except black and white, because that comprises much of my nonwork wardrobe anyway. Well, that and gray. But I'm working on it. I refuse pink though, give me purple. And teal. -ditto @natariru on sticking with what I like and know and to hell with the rest of it. This means I spend my summers in ON tanks and maxi skirts or flared jeans because I still can't get on the skinny jeans bandwagon, but meh. -I did finally suck it up and start wearing leggings last fall though, so maybe there's hope for me and the skinny jeans after all? -I wanna go purse shopping.
They are well crafted ballet flats with an absence of loud embellishments that scream "I'M WEARING TIEKS".
That my friend, is staying power.
Wait -- don't Tieks kind of scream Tieks? They all have the turquoise strip in the back and turquoise bottoms that show you what brand they are? I've always seen them as kind of Louboutin-y in that way.
I'm sad that I missed a fashion thread until now! But I feel no less prepared for spring than I was before All I know is that I'm going to continue to pretend that Birkenstocks are perfectly normal-looking sandals because they sure are comfortable.
I am going to need someone to tell me I will look ridic in this.
I think the Express knot tee could be a good alternative to the Nordstrom tee above. It was recommended on S&B a few days ago. The back is longer than the front.
I buy what I like and what fits me well. The hell with anyone who thinks things are out. I don't want to look like everyone else anyway. If I'm trying something more "trendy", I normally purchase from Target to try it out first.
This is great, but my fear in life is that I'll settle into something that I like and that I think fits me well...and not change for 20 years. Like the 70 year old ladies with bouffant hairdos, or the 50 year olds with feathered bangs. Mom jeans. I'm not a trendy person, but I like to look good, and I like to look good in a way that has people saying, "Ooooh, wear did you get that purse?"
I am not cool enough to just pull off something just because I like it and the rest of the world be damned.
I think not changing for 20 years can actually work in your favor when you are older. My MIL has dressed exactly the same way since I met her in 1995 -- she basically wears khaki or black ankle pants with solid color t-shirts and ballet flats at home and the same uniform of black pants, black shell, and black open cardigan when she goes out. Diamond studs, wedding ring, Cartier tank watch, expensive handbag that she changes every two years or so. No other accessories. Hair always in a length brown bob. I think it would get boring as hell, but while she never looks trendy, she also never looks bad, out of fashion, or poorly dressed. I think it is actually a decent strategy for someone who does not enjoy fashion but would like to look reasonably put together.

Agree. There's something to be said for being a classic dresser. You might never quite be "in" - but you can also guarantee that you'll never be "out" either.
I'm a classic dresser, and I always have been. I do like skinny jeans, but like to pair them with a blazer and flats. My wardrobe has an awful lot of solid colours, and every time I try a print, it doesn't feel right to me. I'm the same way about bright nail polish. I am most comfortable in pale pinks or French manicures.

I mean scream like gigantic logo vs. color brand recognition.
Yeah there is a huge difference between someone recognizing the brand because they are aware of the "tells" and an item that literally has its name all over it.

This sounds like my MIL except her hair is in a longer pixie and she has glasses that rival Sylvia Weinstock's lol.

im fucking clueless and I can still spot Tory burch a mile away.
That's the difference.
Those Tieks are cute. Am I so passé for living in my Toms? Lol.
