What are you reading this week? Are you enjoying it?
QOTW: Do you have any guilty pleasure reads? (by guilty pleasure read, I mean books you enjoy but would be embarrassed for anyone to catch you reading)
I finished Vision in Silver by Anne Bishop on Wednesday. I really enjoyed it. The themes in the book really hit home; learning how to deal with changes when they become overwhelming. I'm back to reading Fiery Cross by Diana Gabaldon. I'm enjoying it, but not as much as I did the first couple books in the series. I think it's because it's now set in America where the first couple were set in Scotland. American history has never really interested me.
QOTW: Yes, I have several books by Tielle St. Clare.
The Edge of Dreams, the latest Molly Murphy mystery by Rhys Bowen. It's a good one.
Qotw: I feel a little self conscious about the cozy mysteries I love to read, but not embarrassed by them. I'm planning to read Chris Harrison's romance novel when it comes out (host of the Bachelor series, which is my guilty pleasure TV) and I'm preemptively embarrassed about that!
TGIF! I'm so happy it's the weekend. I'm still plugging away at Live From New York (SNL history), and it's a long one so it might be a while. I'm listening to Everything I Never Told You, and it's so good- excellent writing.
My guilty pleasure books aren't anything I'd necessarily be embarrassed to be caught reading nowadays- in my teen years I used to love reading those bodice-ripper type romance novels, but now I'd say the James Patterson Women's Murder Club books are about the guiltiest I go, or any type of beach read for when I'm on vacation- I really enjoy reading a few brain-candy type books now and again.
The Litigators, John Grisham. I am enjoying it. I like most of his books. It's nice to be able to fall back on comfort authors every once in awhile. I have been reading all types of books over the last few years that have not been my norm thanks to this board and other book-related boards.
I don't have any guilty pleasure books. Wait, maybe zombie books but I'm not embarrassed by it all that much. Those are my fun easy reads whenever I'm in the mood.
I am currently reading: Death Will Extend Your Vacation (its ok......lol I purchased this by error, so im kinda forcing myself to read, its a silly murder mystery) Breaking free (SM Koz) (I am not sure how i feel about this yet, its intriguing, not sure where it is going. so far, not bad)
my guilty pleasure : pscyhological thrillers and trashy beach reads
Written in my Own Heart's Blood by Diana Gabaldon. I finally got sick of waiting for it to come out in paperback and bought the Kindle version.
Not embarrassing, really, but there are some books I wouldn't bring to a conference where I'm likely to be seen by lots of business acquaintances. The Harry Potter series is an example, although I'd certainly admit to enjoying them if a colleague wanted to talk about it.
I just finished The Reintegrators by Will Weisser. He's the DH of fellow GBCNer 1yeartogo. I finally got around to reading it and I really enjoyed it! Now I'm reading The Life of Pi.
Anyone else read it? I'm having trouble getting into it.

No, but it's my book club's selection for mtg next wk, & this makes me very meh about getting started... Currently reading After Birth by Elisa Albert. It's very disjointed, which can be ok in some books, but I'm finding it a bit confusing in this one. I'm also not a mom, & its about the craziness of post-partum life. A friend recc'd & told me it would give me a glimpse into the insanity of motherhood. SO it might be an entirely different read after I do give birth (in 1-3 yrs, hopefully). Interesting read, though.

Eta: I'm also following the Sweep In Peace series on Ilona Andrews' blog. They don't have a consistent schedule for new chapters, but I'm enjoying it. It's fluff, but enjoyable fluff.

After finishing Around the World in Eighty Days by Jules Verne, I began The Orchid Affair by Lauren Willig. I'm enjoying it, but I'm only two chapters in, so I'm not really sure how it's going to go.
QOTW: Ohh yes, most definitely I have guilty pleasure reads. I'm a huge book snob. Mine are mainly trashy teenage novels, particularly series like The Girls of Canby Hall, but I love my Kindle for secretly reading Christian romance novels.
I'm reading Golden Son, the second book in the Red Rising trilogy. It's better than the first so far.
I just finished it this weekend. I really enjoyed it, although I wish I had reread the first book (I'm terrible with names and have a hard time keeping everyone straight.) I am looking forward to the next one and will definitely do a reread of the first two before it comes out.
I'm reading Dark Places by Gillian Flynn right now.
QOTW: I don't own an e-reader, and I was embarrassed to read the 50 Shades series in public, so I left it at home. But I didn't enjoy it enough to read it again, even in private, so I'm not sure that counts! haha
