Money and vacation days are tight but a friend really wants a group of us to go to Paris for her 40th this year.
Coming from East Coast would a long weekend trip be dobale? Mainly see the tower, eat, drink champange and just generally enjoy the city. Thinking sometime in October. I have never been there.
Completely. It's a pretty quick flight from the East Coast. I've done Paris weekends flying from both Boston and New York and gotten a lot out of the trips. Thurs-Tues seems like a long time in comparison!
My main advice is to just hit the ground running on day 1 from the airport and not take anything more than a 20 or 30-minute nap that day.
This is how I did my first trip to Paris when money and PTO were tight and it was awesome! I actually think my trip was 1 day shorter and it was still worth it.
Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime. Mark Twain
Yes, do it. I did Milan for less than that. Like a previous poster said hit the ground running, grab a coffee, soda or whatever and stay up until bedtime. It will be amazing, it's Paris with your friends.
Yes, definitely. As others have pointed out, the flight isn't bad, and while you'll be jet-lagged on Friday, you should arrive fairly early in the morning, giving you almost 4 full days there. For a girls trip where you're not trying to see every single site, that's enough time. We did a similar timeline (although the overall trip was longer, because we arrived after a few days in London) and we felt like we saw a lot. Have fun!

When you have time can you give me an idea of what you did? My husband is likely coming with us too bc i don't want to see paris without him.
We know going in this won't be an see every single thing which will make things easier.

Back when I was still blogging, my XH and I went for a 3-day weekend. It was his first visit, and we actually managed to see quite a lot of the highlights. Here's a full recap of how we spent our time: blog.megdesk.com/a-weekend-in-paris/

Sure! We did a lot of the main stuff, but of course there was still a lot to see. The first day we were there, we wandered a bit, had lunch, then went to Notre Dame. (Just the cathedral & garden. The line for the towers were crazy, so we passed.) We walked around some more & then found ourselves by the Louvre. Little to no lines, so we took advantage and explored that a bit. I think we were there for only a couple of hours. We saw the main works & wandered through other rooms & stopped at other pieces that interested us. More exploring, cafe hopping, etc at night.
Day 2 we did a city tour w/Fat Bike Tours that was a lot of fun. It was a good way to see the city. That evening we had tickets for the Eiffel Tower. I think we had an 8:30 pass. It was perfect, because it was light when we first got there, but then the whole city lit up. It's amazing to see Paris at night!
Day 3 we went over to Sacre Coeur & the red light area by the Moulin Rouge. We just did a lot of exploring. When we went back to the other side of town, we stopped at Lauduree for macarons. (This was on my just do list. So good!)
Day 4 we went to Versailles. Versailles was amazing & DH really wanted to see it, but we could have easily spent the 4th day exploring the other areas we missed. We spent our last evening cafe hopping for hours, ordering cheese plates & wine. There are so many places to sit & just watch the city go by. This was one of my favorite things about the trip.
In reality, we could have spent a week seeing new things, but with the time we had (and the time you have), I still think we had a great introduction to the city.

Late to the party, but I totally agree with everyone else. Absolutely doable. I think I went for 5 days, which was a good amount of time to see stuff. Like others mentioned, I would HIGHLY recommend hitting the ground running as soon as you get there. Get on their time on day 1 to maximize your time there.

If I lived on the east coast, I definitely wouldn't hesitate doing a long weekend in Europe from time to time, especially Paris because it's my favorite city. So yes, go for it!

When I went to Paris, we were only in the city for 1.5 days. We walked everywhere- and we were able to see the Louvre, Eiffel Tower, Arc d'Triomphe, Notre Dame, walk by the Seine, and had some good meals. Go for it!
