Depends who I'm with and how loud it is, haha. Most of the time I just ignore it but if I can tell people know it was me, I sometimes try to play it off as something else.
I usually ignore. If my shoe/chair squeaks in a way that sounds like a fart, I do it again like 8 times so people know it wasn't me!
I was actually just talking to H about farting in public last night. Wouldn't life be different if it was socially acceptable to just fart wherever? I bet we'd be more relaxed. lol, deep, late-night thoughts.
My poor BFF farted the other day while on a walk w a coworker. I told her that it is the unofficial official policy to ignore farts in public/play it off as some other sound. I am glad to see everyone agrees!
melsamoony- not sure why it's so embarrassing either, especially for women. Men seem much more comfortable with this, like it's just part of being a male but in reality it's just part of being human.
Speaking of farts...C has the LOUDEST farts. It's pretty comical that something so loud can come out of something so little! He has no shame- it's a daily source of amusement!

I know I don't contribute here but I was lurking and this reminded me of a time I was taking a walk with my friend. She farted and my gut instinct was to make a joke out of it or giggle but before I could even react she said "excuse me" and then carried on with our regular conversation. Since she treated the fart like a sneeze or any other natural/normal function I carried on as if nothing happened too. It strikes me as a really mature way to handle it and we were teenagers at the time!
If it had been me I totally would've laughed at myself. In front of a stranger, however, I'd be mortified!

M too! He always seems to be loudest right during prayer at church. I just have to laugh.
That's too funny! I can see C doing the same thing! Unfortunately, we're terrifed of going to church...we've been watching our old church online. We really need to just suck it up and go one of these weekends...worse case is I end up going to the Mom's room.
