DH and I alternate mornings to workout. I've always done mornings (2-a-days in HS swimming), so I'm used to them. DH, however, is not.
He can get up and get to the gym just fine. But he always complains that he's too hot and nauseous while working out. This morning, he threw up .
For the nausea, he's tried snack, no snack, and now is having a small glass of juice (thick juice - naked/odwalla), and that seems to help a little, but not enough.
What else can he try to stay cool and not sick to his stomach?
Is he hydrated and getting enough sleep? I suffer from occasional early morning "sour stomach" (which I think is reflux-related) and it's downright nauseating. Unfortunately it's trial and error as to what works/doesn't work. I find that when it hits, a banana and a little water helps pre-run.

I've been in the mornings too and I don't think it's any hotter than when I've been other times of the day, so I'm not sure it's actually the gym being too hot.
He's getting 7-8 hours of sleep (Bed around 10:00, wake up at 5:30). He's probably not hydrated enough, good thought! And I'll suggest a banana too.

So, he doesn't have this problem if he works out in the evenings? Is he wearing a HRM while he works out? It sounds to me, although I'm not a doctor, like there's some overexertion going on. Also, (again, not a doctor) nausea and overheating during exercise can be symptoms of more significant issues. If it persists, I'd probably have him see his doctor for a complete workup and request a stress test to be scheduled in the AM so that his symptoms can be duplicated during the test.

My husband has really similar issues. I think it is because he has low blood pressure, and moving strenuously in the morning without lots of time to be up and "normalized" and plenty of food makes him off all day. The only thing that works for my husband is to be a long time before working out and getting breakfast.
I am so thankful that I can workout in the morning because I think there are physical reasons that make it easier for some people.

Thanks ladies! He doesn't have a HRM, but perhaps he should get one.
I don't think it's eating too much the night before. Dinner is usually around 6:30, and we go to be around 10.
mollyrunner, I know what you mean about working out in the morning - I never realized it was truly harder for some people, it's always been easy for me, so I feel a little clueless with DH.
