How old was your DD the first time you painted her toenails?

Because Ava loves to watch me paint my own nails and I can't decide if I'm one pedi away from Mama June status.

Dd1 was 3, but dd2, was much younger. I think I posted about it at the time because I was worried I was crazy. Maybe 18ish months? Definitely the summer she turned 2, her birthday is in August.

DD will be 2 in April. I painted her toenails for the first time probably 3 weeks ago. I was painting mine and she kept shoving her toes in my face and fake crying. When I went to repaint them about a week later and took off the old polish, she started crying because she liked them painted. She was all better when she got fresh paint on her piggys.

I can't do it still. I don't know why. I see super young kids with it and while I don't care or judge it, I still won't do it. I did it once and took it off the next day. I think it's a mental thing bc my dad never wanted me and my sisters to have our nails painted as kids.

DD was 5 or 6 months old for toenails. Close to 4 for fingernails.

It's was around her first birthday but for a long time we just did her toes because she would still put her hands in her mouth. It was her reward for letting me clip her nails.

Around 2; and then it was her FAVORITE thing to do in the hospital---just sit and relax and get pampered.

Natalie wants "toe paint" too. I wouldn't do her fingernails because she sucks her thumb, but I think toes are happening soon.

I haven't done it yet. DD is 2. I was thinking about getting some of that non-toxic piggy paint. I don't know why I'm hesitant. I'm not sure if I like how it looks on little kids, I guess. /shrug

I honestly don't remember. I have never bought the kid stuff either she uses mine and has her own.

Why is this a judgmental thing? I know you said you don't, but I've never heard of somebody judging bail polish before.

I know people who judge nail polish on young toddlers/babies, that's why I said I don't judge I just don't do it.

I haven't painted DD's (I don't keep polish at home) but at MIL's DS found a bottle if nail polish and asked for it so he sported Pearly pink finger/toenails for awhile

Pierced ears is a NMS for me. It's cultural so I don't judge it. Bikinis I don't like

I don't feel skeevy about painting her toenails. It doesn't feel like sexualizing her either. Everyone has different comfort levels with this kind of stuff though.

Painted her finger nails around 1 & a half/2

I don't remember exactly but I would guess around 18 months. I don't see anything wrong with it. She was probably 5 before I painted her fingernails and we don't so it often but she loves it.

I'm another one who sees nothing sexual about nail polish, especially candy pink or sparkly pastels. I dislike ear piercing babies because I feel body modification is a personal choice. I understand it is sometimes cultural, so I don't picket or anything. I think some baby bikinis are adorable and I have my flame proof suit on to admit that around here.

Exactly. A cute two piece with a ruffle skirt is much more appealing to me than a one piece with, say an animal print one shoulder or something.  I'm not into triangle tops for infants or anything but I think some looks are ubiquitous and not sexualized unless you sexualize them.

I guess sexual is the wrong word. More like... Making them grow up too quickly? Kind of like what someone was saying about not liking mini proms for elementary age kids. Again, not defending it.
