My 4 year old Keurig is on its last leg. Instead of buying another one, I thought I would give the French Press a shot. Having never used one before I bought a bag of ground coffee and a french press from Target tonight.
I just googled how to make the coffee and everything I've read is saying to grind your own coffee bean. Can I still use the bag of ground coffee or will it be too fine and end up in my coffee?

I've only had a major problem with Gevalia brand, which seems to be a little more finely ground.
If you do have a problems, these filters are meant for percolators, but they fit my French press perfectly. I used them in addition to the press's mesh strainer and it kept the grinds out.
Ooooh this is good to know, because sometimes I end up going outside with my grinder to grind beans so I don't wake anyone up! Blows in the winter when I just want to be warm and have a cup of coffee in toasty silence!
I got a French press for Christmas, thought I'd use it as a treat on the weekends but now i use it every day. Yum! I've used it with regular grind in a pinch and it's been fine.
Made my first french press coffee this morning and albeit I didn't get the water to coffee ratio quite right, it was still delicious! I might have to start doing this more often!
Thanks for the filter rec, runblondie26, just ordered it!
By the way, my brother invented this filter for a french press so you don't end up with a mouthfull of grinds at the end of your coffee. I will say that it works great!
