Any HR folks here...gault? Do you know if when you leave a company, the company is required to pay out any PTO that you have accumulated but not used? DH seems to think this is required, but I had never heard of it before.
It all depends on how it is worded in your employment contract.

It isn't required.
I've had PTO at my last three jobs. The last 2 paid out the whole sha-bang. My current company only pays out the vacation portion of PTO (around 43%) assuming you left on good standing.

It's state by state. Some require it, others leave it to the employer to decide if they will pay out PTO or not.
Incidentally, some companies are going to unlimited PTO that does not accrue specifically so they don't have the liability on their books come annual closing.
I bought myself flowers at the grocery store today for no reason other than they were such pretty shades of orange and yellow. They're so pretty, in fact, I want to share the joy

Thanks for the info, all. I asked one of my former CWs if my company paid out her accrued PTO when she left, and she said yes, so that's good to hear, although I will also double-check my employment contract.

The weekend was great! We stayed home and watched movies and did laundry on Saturday. Then Sunday morning I went to the movies with my brother's fiance and my mom. After that I spent the day with ds, got his picture taken with the Easter bunny, took some photo booth pictures, and went to a play land. We were both so tired by the time we got home we practically fell into bed and crashed.
Monday however has been crazy. But I'm pretty sure that t ball practice will be canceled so I'll be able to just relax this evening. :-)
Chalupa I have a costume for you that won't really involve buying anything. Dress in business clothes and make a fake press pass. You're Lois Lane. Then if you felt like it you can make a little word bubble like a comic book that says "help me Superman!" So you just walked out of the comic.

I'm at urgent care for the damn tip virus cough monster. I coughed so hard last night I threw up. Gross. On the bright side, they have a new system where you check in online and then wait at home until a specific check in time. Hopefully that means I don't sit here forever. Literally everyone around me is coughing and wearing nose mask things. I could never be a doctor because this thing on my face is super fucking annoying.

I put DS in bed an hour early. He got in trouble for hitting another kid at school, the an epic tantrum about doing his homework, and was an all around terror... until it was time to go to bed. Then he was sweet and snuggly.
I'm drinking wine and watching fried green tomatoes.
