This picture is from the model home but is the same layout as ours. The curtains we picked out for the living room are 95" which works with the living room window but will not work for the sliding glass door. Curtains on the doors need to be at least 106". Would it be horrible to keep the 96" curtains for the living room window and do a different curtain for the glass door? I think that the curtain rods for both should be at the same height but H doesn't think it needs to be.

If you're doing curtains I would want the same curtains, hung at the same height personally. how will curtains work on that slider? it looks like the right side goes right up to the wall

There is about 3" on the other side of the slider. Not a lot but enough room to add a curtain rod. I hate vertical blinds and we do not have a covered patio like the model so we will definitely need something.
It might be because it's Monday, but I am having a hard time picturing this. So the rods would be at the same height, but you have different curtain lengths? Or are you talking about the widths?
If it's the length - are you OK with the living room curtains looking shorter? I don't think I'd like that, but that is a personal preference.
If I totally off, then just ignore me as I am obviously not getting it.

No, my husband was saying he thinks it would be ok to have the curtain rods at different heights. I want the curtains all the way to the floor. I think it would look weird to have the curtain rods at different heights.

Ahh ok - Sorry it is a case of the Mondays. I agree that the curtain rods need to be at the same height. They are too close to one another to be at different heights.
As for whether they need to be the same pattern I would prefer that they were since they are that close to one another. But maybe you can do coordinating? Like a pattern and a solid? I wouldn't do two patterns for sure.
I would make sure the rods are at the same height and the curtains are the same length. I would probably get the same exact curtains for both spots, but agree with raangoli that you could do coordinating patterns if you don't want them to be the same.
I'm not finding any long curtains that I love so I think for now I'm just getting the $40 gray curtains from ikea until I find something I love. I convinced H to hang the curtain rods at the same height.
