I am so depressed right now. Work is just horrendous. We have had 5 nurses leave in 4 months. I just can't take it anymore but don't have the motivation to seriously look for another job.
I just want to cry. Sorry. Idk what I need I just needed to out this out there. Internet gods please fix this!

This makes me so sad. I'm sorry you are having such a rough time with work. Sending lots of prayers and ((hugs)) your way. I'm here if you ever need to talk.
Will it get better if/when they bring on more nurses? Maybe start small in the job search (apply for a couple here and there and just take your time with no expectations). You never know, something better might be right around the corner.
((melsamoony)) I am so very sorry. I feel you. I do. Many hugs your way!! I hope things improve. Try to get some time to relax some tonight. Zoning out in a magazine for even 5 minutes seems to help me a little.
it is terrible. another hospital opened up locally 2 years ago, and several of the nurses I worked with left to go to the new hospital, including some of my favorites. we still keep in touch, but it's not the same. then they made some changes on how the unit is run, and more left. it's been very frustrating the past 2 years, and I've been on the verge of leaving my current hospital several times, so I know how you're feeling. it's now starting to turn around. the main reason I haven't left is that I love the coworkers that stayed and don't want to leave them.
it does get better once they bring on new staff, but in our case, our new staff was often new graduates, who require much more training before they're independent.
I'm sorry you're having such a rough time at work.. I know when things get really stressful and discouraging for me at work, I really try my hardest to leave everything at the door and not think about or dwell on anything that happened. I know it's easier said than done, but it's worth a try. I hope things look up for you soon!
Thanks everyone. I think I am not making dinner tonight. I am also going to find some great trashy TV to indulge in.
Can your DH watch L so you can have a nice break tonight? ((hugs)) I hope you are able to just relax tonight and take some time for yourself. Thinking of you!
((Hugs)) I hope it gets better once they find more staff. Adding overtime to a crappy situation just makes things worse. I wish hospitals cared more about nurse retention.

ME TOO.
As a recruiter, I'm now faced with senior leadership just wanting me to "bring in more bodies" rather than address WHY THEY ARE LOSING PEOPLE WHO HAVE BEEN HERE 8 YEARS!!!! It frustrates the heck out of me! Especially when they are wanting me to work crazy hours to "JUST QUICKLY FILL" positions we got last week. We need QUALITY not just quantity. These are people...teammates that we hope to retain!
