I kinda like it.. I think.. But I can't believe he bought something that bold without talking to you first! wow!
Apparently it's not much different than navy couches...I'm hoping to find pillows today because I need to add something to tone then down.
And is like to see what it looks like without the rug.
I may be wrong, but I feel like pillows come later in the game.....like putting on jewelry to finish your outfit. To me, they can really pull the look together, but they should complement the space not be the focus. Does that make sense?
Or maybe I am trying to justify having waited almost a year and a half to figure out pillows for our living room.
I am glad that I waited. Maybe not quite that long, but we've added color and texture in lamps, a coffee table and decor over the past year, so all of those things have influenced the colors, patterns and textures for the pillows.

I really like it! We have a Karlstad also, and for our house I didn't like the default ikea legs. I bought replacement ones one Etsy and I LOVE them. It completely changed the look of the sofa for me. Just an option! www.etsy.com/listing/117585026/mid-century-style-replacement-sofa-legs?
Confession: I got this Grandin Road catalog for the first time the other day and my first thought was, "I need some people on H&G to buy these rugs because I love them but don't have anywhere to put them!"
I like the couches, but I am not loving them with the rug. I love green and navy together and think a rug with lots of navy in it would be great in the room.

I have some from petty pegs that should be here in week or so!

Yes, I've seen this a few times and I think some warm wood ones would be great. Especially with that rug below. I think it's just that the rug you have now is a little washed out under the green.

And with this rug, I think you can bring in white/yellow pillows and gold/brass accents to the room.
Or even add more bold colors and still keep white/tassle pillows to tie it in.
You could also go with a natural rug and more wood elements to tone it down if you are not ready for all the color yet. Like this blue room, only green.

Ooh I like them. I think you could do a thin console table behind one couch. Maybe some topiaries on the mantel for more green. I love fern prints too, maybe 2x2 behind the long couch.
I think the coffee table is a little small, maybe round or oval would be better against the squareness of the couches.
Bolder rug might be nice but I would look for curtains next and go from there.
I noticed these curtains have a green like the couch and even though it is more color than I expected to like I do like them. Maybe I could pick the color(s) for some solid colored pillows from the curtains...I'm thinking plum?
I think this wall color is similar to mine and they look less bold (good thing IMO).

Eta I would get a new rug. Suggestions?
Honestly, I don't love these. They "read" as pastel, and you can't even see the green in the overall picture. I also think solid cushions on that couch would be a little strange-looking. I would go for the cool rug (no, I'm not biased at all, what are you talking about? ;-) ), and a more subtle pattern for curtains and pillows, like a striped curtain.
You guys are really pushing back me out of my decorating comfort zone!
I guess that's the issue too...as I was putting that together I was kind of like, "It goes together well, but it's not really my style." If you don't love bold colors, I would be wary about decorating a whole room around the sofa. Would you be more comfortable with a beige/green/orange kind of color palette?
I really like the idea of tying in the green with plants in the room, too, instead of just fabrics and accessories...

The third picture is more what I lean towards naturally (but I would have had a brown or grey sofa) and I'm wanting more color. I do like the second picture quite a bit.
