So, I think I'm gonna try balayage to hide/blend the grey. I also I'm trying to decide whether to leave it long and just trim it/shape it, or go short (bob) again. I have thick, dark hair w/ some natural curl.
Short:
Pros: It looks more "done," basically don't have to do anything and it looks like I did it, more stylish. Cons: Can't put it up, hate it when it grows out, requires hair cuts more often.
Long:
Pros: More feminine, better for dating?, more versatile (can put it up). Cons: More work, often end up putting it up b/c it's easier, more boring?, doesn't look "done."
Your hair is more curly than mine, but I really love my short hair. I went with a really choppy asymetrial style and it's so easy and always looks really put together. I literally so nothing more than put a little product in it. So my vote is for short!
Based on the pros and cons list, I would say go shorter! Yes, it requires more frequent cutting but some of that is dependent on the particular cut (with my super straight hair and style, its every 6 weeks). What if you do a longer bob that allows you to pull it back easier?
In general though, I'm a non fussy person and sleep is more important to me than getting up extra early to fuss with hair. The ease of being able to look put together and polished with a short hair style in a quick amount of time is the winner.
To be clear, my long hair doesn't take much time or work either, but short hair is even easier and looks more polished. I've had it short before a do really like it, but I don't get hair cuts often and it ends up growing out. I prefer it pretty short, too short for a ponytail, longer feels frumpy to me. I wear it curly, so I don't need super regular cuts, but when ii normally go 6+ months b/c I'm cheap and lazy. Too keep it cute short, I'd need to cut it at least every 2-3 months. I'm just worried that it will affect dating and I'll get annoyed not being able to throw it up in the summer. And most ppl IRL are telling me to keep it long... I can't decide!
Yeeeah, we're going to need you to come back in here and elaborate spa
Haha - ok the back story was that I had just gotten my eye surgery done (PRK which is like LASIK, but they dissolve your cornea [which is as terrible and scary as it sounds] so the healing period is like 4 days which feels like there is sand in your eyes) and was talking to H about going to the hairdresser to donate my hair to Pantone locks of love or whatever it is called
I said, "Oh look you just have put your hair in a ponytail and cut it at the nape of the neck." He started playing with my hair (I still really can't see) and he puts it on the TOP of my head. Then he plays around with it, and I felt this weird pulling and all of the sudden he hands me my hair.
I flipped shit and started smacking him with it, saying,"Feel how soft my hair was!!! FEEL IT! FEEL IT!" Then I cried a little and then I was like well this is not coming back. So, I was stuck growing out an asymmetrical bod for like 6 months :l

Oh MY GOD! I would divorce my husband. But like I said, I have a weird neuroses about my hair.
I was about 5 years old when my mom's ex husband got tired of me chewing on my hair and took me into the bathroom and chopped it and ever since I hate to cut my hair.
