I know this is a dumb question and I even googled to avoid asking this. Where do you put your music device when you run/walk/jog outside?
I always wear a jacket with pockets for my iphone but it's warming up so I need an alternative that doesn't require pockets. I am VERY new to running and I feel dumb asking this.
Well I have a shuffle. It's tiny and I just clip it on me. But they make armbands you can use for your iPhone so you can just strap it on. I saw some cheap ones in the $1 bins at Target recently so you could check there
I have (or had, when I used to run) an armband that carries an iphone. Google "running armband" and you'll see lots of options for whatever your music device.
ETA: I see lots of people have already answered this.

I wear a FlipBelt - it holds my keys and phone, and has small slots for other things. It is amazing. Nothing jostles around and it doesn't ride up or down.
Perfect for the phone, keys if you need them, and gels for long runs
This looks awesome! The arm bands would work too but I feel like the headphones cord would move around less with this. I move my arms a lot when I run. Lol.

If we're goign to start talking earbuds, I freaking love my yurbuds. They screw into your ear (not as painful as it sounds). Even when I'm dripping sweat running in a MS summer, they don't fall out, and they have a line for women so they're actually small enough to fit

I've heard really good things about those! And bania, I honestly would have expected a bose product to be more expensive than that. I'll need to check them both out.

I used to run with an armband. Then I got an iPhone 6. Then I got a shuffle, because the iPhone was too big to wear on my arm. This can be a more expensive solution than what you are looking for.
I was using an armband, but I keep getting chafed if I'm wearing a tank top. I found a cheapo $7 belt that holds my phone (with access to the headphones port) and keys/cards at Walmart a few weeks ago. I like that much better.

Yeah I have a shuffle also and considered clipping it to my shirt but the hassle of downloading music onto it was a deterrent.
I use a Fuelbelt with wireless headphones (not earbuds). I have a iPhone 6+. I didn't have my belt yesterday and went on an impromptu run with a friend and I stuck my massive tablet phone in my sports bra. It kept trying to fly out. I don't like armbands because the velcro always pops off. I have a good quality one and a cheapie and it doesn't matter, the velcro comes undone. The belt is so much better.

I was looking at getting a pair of these and you say yours don't fall out at all??? Mine will stay in until my ears get sweaty then they want to pop right out. Do you have the ones with the hook over your hear or just the ones that go right into your ear hole?...LOL
I'm trying to get back into the whole running thing, so I'm using the treadmill most of the time until I get my groove back. When I run I was putting my iphone in one of those arm bands that Velcro around you arm, but that broke so for now I'm just holding it which kind of sucks. I should probably just order a new one.

I just have the ones that go in the ear. I think one has fallen out once, and I've had them for over a year. I run almost every day last summer and would be dripping sweat, and they still stayed in.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”
