Our girl name has been Elizabeth Mary Danielle, so already kind of long. My middle name is Mary Danielle. This was my husband's idea, I don't hate it, just doesn't seem necessary.
We could sub Lynnette for Danielle, so Elizabeth Mary Lynnette. Still long, but same amount of letters. Our last name is 5 letters so that helps (I had a long last name growing up).
It does kind of scream "I am shoving all naming goals into the first child!!!!!!"
I was kind of liking "Elizabeth Mary Linanne" this morning but my coworkers were like NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!! It almost flows better to me and having that smoosh name as the 2nd middle name doesn't seem so bad.
Did i mention we don't the gender so all this could be a mute point if it's boy!!!!!!!

lol, yes.
Linanne sounds made up and smooshed together to me, and I'm not a fan of that at all. I'm kind of #teamcoworker here. Lynnette is an actual name in existence so I would prefer that. I like hainesherway's suggestion of Lissette even more, but you don't think it's "Mom" enough. If "Mom" enough is the priority (which I get, like I said above), I would just name this baby after Mom, use Mary if you want, and unless you plan to be OAD, then name baby #2 after H's family. I just don't think you are going to arrive at something that honors your mom, honors your MIL, honors the Mary tradition AND sounds nice, flows well, doesn't sound too uneek, and doesn't run on to a 2nd line at the DMV
My BIL/SIL named their only daughter after SIL's mom (who had passed away) with no component honoring BIL's mom. Their son's middle name is named after MIL's father (i.e. BIL's mom's father). It works.
As a separate point, if you plan to have a 2nd in the future, it'd be nice to have some traditions that you haven't used yet to give to that baby's name.
And yet another point, because I am full of thoughts today, I am also wary of giving a daughter a name laden with too many sentimental "honor" names on top of a first name. If she wants to change/add to her name if she gets married someday, either something's gotta give, or she goes up to like 5 names. One of my friends had that problem and she had a lot of name change angst when she got married because she was afraid she'd disappoint a parent if she dropped "their" relative's name (but she didn't want 5 or so names!).
I don't like Linanne - it seems very made up and awkward. You could always go with Linnea, something similar but a real name. It might not have enough of the names to be considered naming after by their standards, though.
I think you should scale back on who you are trying to honor with this name. If it will offend some people to be left out, maybe you just avoid naming after anyone all together?
Desperate Housewives. Felicity Huffman. But I loved that character so it isn't a negative thing/association.
Yup, this is the first thing I thought of. But its off the air and not memorable enough that anyone will remember it for your kid being born now. I also liked her character, so I don't have a negative association with it either.
The name we are thinking of using was also a character on a TV show, which sucks because it is not very common. But we'll probably use it anyway.

One of my best friends growing up was a Lynette, and there was at least one other in my school. I have a family member named Lynn Anne, and she goes by Lynn. (To me though, that's two middle names)
I think Lynette is a pretty name, not common, but not off-the-wall either.

It reminds me of Desperate Housewives, but that show isn't even on anymore. I know one person named Lynnette. She is a middle aged black woman from Ohio.
