Wake-up #1 here, which is pretty great! She gained TEN OUNCES this week, so we got the okay not to wake to feed anymore. I think DH was expecting some miracle length of sleep, he was disappointed when she woke up at almost exactly 4 hours. I'm like hey dude, that's pretty great!
Random wake up over here and just making sure she is really back to sleep before I get back in bed. As I was rocking her to sleep she sort of leaned back, looked at me, and reached up in honked my nose lol.
I'm up pumping but I can hear one of the girls making noises, so we'll see if a bottle is necessary or not. I'm already sleeping pretty lightly though because DD1 puked last night and I keep rolling over to check the video monitor. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it was just a fluke related to her hep A vaccine or her ear infection and not a stomach bug :/
4 hours is great! That's about how long E just slept, maybe a tiny bit more. I don't think I even really needed to get him up yet because he only kinda fussed for a second like he did last night around the same time but I saw he was awake so I might as well. Hopefully he sleeps for at least another 4 hours after this!
3 am here. We have slept 90 minutes so far and 5 hours since Tuesday morning. If I could just nurse him or decide to EFF, this would be so much easier, but we are in a "try nursing (fail miserably, baby cries)/feed formula while skin to skin/pump to get a few drops of colostrum" cycle, and all of that takes an hour at least. Once that's done, he is wide awake and alert and wants to hold our fingers and stare at us for another hour or so (it's so cute!). Then he sleeps for 90 minutes. If we send him to the nursery, I sleep for 90 min too. Otherwise, I wake up every time he squeaks or stirs. I am not sure how long I can keep this up, even with all of H's help. And this is only night two!
Good thing he is so freaking adorable. I'm excited to go home tomorrow.
The last 2 nights have been hell at bedtime. Idk what is going on. Last night we went out to eat for MIL birthday so I'm hoping that was the reason they took forever. Usually DD is up around 2 or 3. It's 3 now and she is asleep so I'm pumping. Hoping they will stay asleep till 5 so I can feed before I get read for work.
krystee I know exactly how you feel because that's pretty much what our BFing attempts looked like. Please don't make yourself as crazy as I did about it if it doesn't work out or if you get sick of supplementing! Hopefully it will work better for you though!
E just chugged 4 ounces and I'm afraid he will still be hungry, haha. He's been eating more and more and I admit I'm a little afraid of overfeeding. I mean, I'd rather overfeed a little than not give him enough, but still. I don't think we're in that territory yet though. Just sometimes he will eat like 5 or 6 ounces over an hour or two and it seems like a lot! I'm used to 2-3 ounces at a time still!
krystee things were like that with us as well. Hang in there! It does gets better We're on wakeup #1 right about on time. The past 3 nights E has been nursing like shit for some reason. The only way she will sit still without flailing is if she is laying on a pillow, on her side with me hunched over her while she angles her head further down. Its extremely unpleasant especially in the middle of the night and my back is killing me. I tried to recline with her and she threw her head around and screamed. Worse if I tried to hold her head to show her this could actually happen.
I really need to see a chiropractor weekly if she keeps this up.
Sure enough I pump at 315. Babies wake at 415. I knew I should have just gotten them up. I then am up for the day at 530 and never went back to sleep after pumping.
Wake up 2. We really need a bottle warmer. We use the formula pitcher so it's cold and heating it under hot running water takes too long. If the bottle is cold he either cries or pulls away from it. Picky kid!
I hope he lets me get a little more sleep after this because I'm afraid I'm coming down with something. Felt really sick last wake up. Not sure if it's something I ate or what. I'm thinking some extra water and rest should help but the rest part isn't easy!
