I am wayyyy too excited for my new "no grocery Friday evening" Friday evenings A giant box of dry goods arrived on our doorstop this week AND we get our Blue Apron delivery today! AND, I have been a little stressed about the packaging - but, look, it's all recyclable, YAY.
I've been in ninja cost cutting mode for such a long time, that throwing money at a problem is crazy fun <)
AND - I am also feeling re-energized at work. An outside opportunity that seemed so promising (but required a re-location given the seniority of the position ) derailed me for a little bit, and now I'm back to bringing the heat in my current role unless something else amazeballs pops up.
I agree with you about throwing money at something can be a stress relief! As I read the ways people are MM thread, it made me glad I live where I do in a LCOL so I can pay for some stuff and it doesn't wreck my budget($13 haircut anyone?).
We are also very certain that we are being snubbed by DH's family for Easter after the great money and real estate debacle of 2014 that I posted about here whereby we stood up for ourselves and didn't bail out some family members to the tune of about $40,000.
Happy Friday! I'm kind of already in weekend mode. I just submitted a major report yesterday that was really stressful and now today I'm just organizing and prioritizing (read: mailing it in!).
No client calls today, but 3 hours of internal calls. Hope they go by quickly!
Then tomorrow is all about yard work. It is supposed to be in the 80s here (crazy), so I need to start early! Luckily weeding won't wake the neighbors.
I got some possibly good news yesterday! One of my clients asked me to be a therapist in a new office she is creating. It would be a collaborative office of different kinds of therapists who work with kids (OT, SLP, behavior therapists like me, etc.). Yesterday the township approved her office so now she can go ahead and start setting everything up!
I love my job but after 10 years of being self-employed and all the driving required to go everywhere (I drive 20k miles/year) and the time it takes to drive everywhere (sometimes I leave the house at 7am, get home at 8pm, and only manage to work 5-6 billable hours), it's getting old. I've been dreaming of having a real "office" to go to for the past few years, but I don't have the cash (or the guts) to start up a true office yet.
This could be a life-changer for me once it gets up and running. I'm sure I'll still work some nights/weekends, but it could be much more reliable and predictable than what I do now. Plus no more being self-employed possibly??

I'm going out with my work friends tonight after work! I've been looking forward to it all week and I'm determined to have fun tonight, even though I got almost no sleep last night because DS isn't feeling well and woke up coughing like 10 times last night, and I have a killer headache.
Their loss! We have the cutest/youngest kid in the family now! Also, it'll be nice. A quiet Easter with our girls and my mom since it's first Easter since my dad passed away. Yay to fried turkey!
DH and I both have taken the day off, so we can go pick up my car (the one we had in Korea!) down in St. Louis. We'll be hitting the road soon!
And, I was asked to join a book club this week! It's a knitting and book club, with a particular selection of books that look like a lot of fun to read, so I'm happy about it. But, the first meeting is this Sunday, and I have a book and 2-3 chapters of another book to read before then. I'm not sure I'm going to make it.... Ah well. I'll bake some brownies for the meeting, and hope that makes up for not having finished the reading.
You were the ones that were going to buy land and your brother/sister in law wanted you to over pay since they had a loan on some equipment right?
*i can delete* What was the end result? I was curious how that went down.
Yes. We now own 3/4 acre in town and built/moved in a wonderful modular home. So much room, our daughters love it! At Thanksgiving, his sister and bro in law had no words for us. At Christmas, they were nice and chatty. We saw them at a social event a few weeks ago and again no words. The holidays are odd - there used to be a lot of back and forth emails planning, now we might get an invite at the last minute.
We invited MIL for Easter b/c the last few years since DH's dad passed no one has really done anything. She said she was already invited to other SIL's house. We then texted his brother to make sure they had an invite somewhere. Radio Silence. Pretty sure everyone is invited to SIL's house except us.
Baptism on Mother's Day should be fun! FTR, we have not discussed with those outside of our inner circle. Other family members think the 30 day notice to move out was a dick move on their part to force us to buy. The farm is STILL sitting empty despite them spouting off about an all cash buyer and FOUR backup buyers! We had at least one person tell us at the social event that he wouldn't comment on BIL who owns it because he was brought up that if you don't have something nice to say, don't say it.
Also, last summer I was over for their son's grad party. Great big, brand new pole shed with heated office and poured cement floor and now we have another year of record low corn and milk prices(which are their main commodities)? We're pretty sure something happened to them financially with the bank, but no one can breathe a word to us. They also really can't list the farmsite for sale due to spouting off and family politics.

I want a knitting book club! I tried to get my book club to do a wedding planning session (3 members just got engaged) but no one was interested. Maybe I will just bring my knitting next time and see if anyone bites lol.
Where did you end up ordering all of your dry goods? Different places or just one place or the online store another poster mentioned that aggregates order across different stores? Just curious.
My random: My company has a use it or lose it leave policy and the fiscal year ends on 3/31 so I have been taking off a few hours early every day over the past week and took a random day off this week. I feel so much more productive at home and really enjoyed the extra time to myself. I realized I would love to work PT and need to figure out a way to make that happen in the future!

I just had the most wonderful and relaxing 5 mile run with my running club--or rather, a relaxing 5 mile solo run while watching the much faster members disappear in the distance ahead. It was so nice to just be alone with my thoughts, not really worry about my pace or keeping up a conversation, etc.
Sadly though, I still have no idea what I'm going to wear to work despite mulling it over for a bout 20 solid minutes
MrsE, I am RIGHT THERE WITH YOU about a 4-day or even 3-day (!) workweek. I think that would make me SOOO happy.
I ended up using netgrocer.com for my dry goods and will use them for the next 4 weeks on a trial basis. I chose them because they had every single item I wanted, and were not as expensive as some of the other sites (soap.com for example was CRAZY expensive, like Life cereal was $6.69 for 18 oz box!). If I really like them, I will switch over to Amazon.com's Pantry offering which is only available for Prime members (I am not one), because netgrocer charges $9.99 for delivery & Amazon's is free, so after 11 months, I'd pay for the prime membership essentially.
What I really liked about netgrocer was the very low-impact packaging - everything was very efficiently packaged & all recyclable stuff (cardbord / paper).

I *like* the you getting out with friends tonight, that's great - but boo on no sleep kiddo.
ETA: Ooooh, I switched tabs to type this, and then switched back and one of them got up for a minute and I could see the eggs!!! I don't know if the mates switched off, or if the sitting eagle just wanted to get more comfy, but that was really neat!

Whoa all I see is extreme close up of an eagle's back (so I can see it breathe) which is totally cool. Thanks for sharing!
Today is my last day at my temp job! <) I actually don't have much to wrap up today so it's going to be really tempting to leave early (but I probably won't, because money).
My poor BF has shingles. He started a weird rash earlier this week and went to the doctor this morning for diagnosis. I feel SO bad for him, the poor guy can't catch a break. He's been SO stressed this semester, then last week he was up all night with a tooth ache and had to have a root canal, then he wasn't feeling well (probably related to the shingles virus), and now this. At least we had a fun vacation in between... He really needs to find a way to stress less, I wish there was something more I could do.
I have an icky headache today but I'm still feeling pretty happy. Yesterday was H's and my anniversary and we had a nice evening of tacos and games with our girls. H is finally off on a Saturday so we'll have the whole weekend together for the first time in about three months. We plan on building our new chicken coop and working in the yard tomorrow during the day, and then for the evening we are going to Ruth's Chris for dinner while the girls stay the night at my mom's.

@shoegal, let me know how the grocery delivery goes. I am curious if that would work for us, although I love grocery shopping strangely enough. We tried Blue Apron and weren't fans- seemed to be a bit pricey instead of our regular meal planning/shopping.
@buckybells, I had shingles a few years ago, and it was SO painful. Sending healing vibes to your BF!
DH is WFH today with me, which is a rarity and will be fun. We both have fairly quiet days, so I am going to make breakfast and we might sit outside for a bit. Tonight is of course wine and appetizers Friday!
Today will not be MM for me. The cats have their first vet visit in our new state. I really loved our old vet, but I have high hopes for our new one.
On the plus side, I'm actually getting somewhere with a work project. I just need to let go of my need for it to be perfect and accept "good enough" like my boss keeps telling me.

I had an eye exam and ordered new glasses today. I love them, just hoping I don't get tired of them after a while. The person helping me pick them out made me feel fabulous.
I have to take back one of my "things I do to be MM", because I just decided to splurge and get a haircut next week. I'm going to be donating a foot or more of hair and need a real haircut to make my shorter wavy hair look good.

I'm trying to wait until may to get a foot to donate. I don't know if I can make it. The super long hair is driving me nuts!

My hair is super long and has been for a while, so a foot is easy for me. However, I usually donate to Pantene Beautiful Lengths and they only require 8 inches, so you may be able to donate sooner (unless you have a specific cause in mind that requires more). See their requirements here: pantene.com/en-us/brandexperience/prepare-your-hair. My main motivation for finally chopping off my hair is the warm weather - I'm getting very sweaty in my workouts, which means I have to wash my hair a lot more frequently and it's just so much easier to wash shorter hair.
