We have an almost 2 year old black lab and a 10 week yellow lab. The black lab has been uncrated all day since January (did half days uncrated since August). We were set on leaving him out all day and leaving puppy in the exerpen, but that didn't work as we had hoped. The puppy does better in the crate. The black lab kept trying to free the puppy from the crate so for now we crate both during the day with their crates side by side. It seems to calm both of them down being able to see each other.
At night, the black lab sleeps in our bed and the puppy is in the crate next to our bed. Sometimes the black lab will hop down and lay next to puppy's crate or leave to sleep in the office.

Your post is missing a PIP.
I will never turn down a request for an AW of my pups!
We have two dogs and both are mostly loose. At night they are loose and when we are not home they get baby gated in the kitchen (with a connection to the basement, they have free range of). We don't let them in the living room because they sleep on the couch even though they know they aren't allowed.
