I got a freaking bill for $1300 relating to Squeaky's hospital stay at birth. (@#$(@*(#@ I have wasted dozens of hours on the phone with my (former) health insurance and the lab that is billing me over this stupid issue. I thought it was finally resolved in December. And then it POPS BACK UP AGAIN.
I had good health insurance (we've been off this insurance since November). My children are 13 MONTHS OLD. Why am I still fighting this?
I won't bore you with all the details, but basically the lab that the hospital uses for bloodwork billed with a strange code and the lab and the health insurance keep track of the dates of service differently. Then they originally submitted all of the claims (dozens of them - there's a lot of bloodwork for a c-section and 2 NICU babies) under my health insurance. Then they had to switch some to the individual babies' names. Then FINALLY all of Squishy's bills got processed under my name. And Squeaky's got rejected as "duplicates." Because she had the same bloodwork done on the same days. TWO BABIES people, TWO BABIES. We can't just test one of them you know...

Ugh I am so sorry. I am still so bitter about the hours I had to spend the first few months with a newborn trying to figure out insurance stuff. There were just so many bills between the facilities, doctors, nicu, procedures, etc. Plus we would get actual bills before an EOB, so ninjas to figure out if it had gone through insurance yet or not and how much we would actually end up owing.
Hours... Exactly what I wanted to do with my minimal time spent not nursing or with a baby finally sleeping and not crying.
Ugh, I HATE health insurance battles. We got bills for the girls as if they had been in a NICU for 3 days. That was impossible given that we weren't even there 3 full days. The hospital had billed their "special care nursery" as of it were a level III NICU. And as if they were there from the moment I walked into l&d. it was so annoying!!
