I would worry more about my kids escaping, they can undue all kinds of locks and will reach anything by moving a chair. A monitor would help that, but then I would just be constantly checking it instead of relaxing and visiting.
[br Why would you have to check it? You park the monitor on the table right next to you. You turn it up loud enough so you can hear a door being opened. Hotel doors are heavy and slam really hard behind you. I can't imagine how you couldn't hear that even if you had the monitor on low.

Not just that, but hijinks in general. My kids do not always stay asleep. It is a comfort thing and needs to be based on that and the kids themselves.
Even still with a monitor turned up loud you'd hear the tossing and turning of a kid getting out of bed.
