MH wants to go to Colorado this year. I want to go to a hot springs. We are from Omaha but do not want to drive. I just priced out the trip (departure from Omaha in the morning, and then departure from Colorado on the way back.
I'm on Travelocity. Can anyone tell me if this is a good price.
2 adults, 1 10 year old.
Fly out of Omaha to Denver on an early flight, pick up the rental car, drive to our hotel.
Both to and from are with United. Hotel is Hotel Glenwood Springs and we will rent a car from enterprise. Total got all 4 including air/hotel/car is &1446.98.
One way to tell is to price it out separately. Buying a vacation bundle doesn't discount the flights much and those can be the biggest expense if they're not on sale.
United non-stop flight prices appears to be $206 round trip per person. Hotel appears to be about $150 per night. Enterprise car appears to be $64 per day.
This total would be $1470. But when I searched just for a car rental on Travelocity, Enterprise was not the cheapest. And when searching for the hotel on hotels.com, it allowed free cancellation.
Whether bundled or not, I do think it's a good price on the air tickets (though to be totally honest, I'm not familiar with what the normal price is for this route). If you don't want to be locked into the non-refundable bundle, you could buy all three separately. If you know you're good with the hotel and car and won't change your mind, then go with whatever you prefer (bundle or no bundle).
If you're not sure, you can put the United flights on hold for a week for a small fee (maybe $7 per ticket) and give yourself time to finalize your plans.

You could also take the California Zephyr to Glenwood springs. It leaves Omaha around 11 pm and arrives in Glenwood springs right after lunch the next day. (About 15 hours). The train station is right across the river from the hotel. Get a sleeper and breakfast and lunch are included in the dining car!
