from a fast food place would I get what I wanted or would you be confused? This is a huge point of confusion for both my husband and my best friend, and I am not sure if it is them or me.
What would I get if I sent you for a cheeseburger, plain?
Bun, meat and cheese. At first I was going to add ketchup and mustard but then thought I shouldn't because even though I think of that as standard on a burger, it isn't plain and you asked for plain.

Good, so it appears that it is a them problem and not a me problem. For some unknown reason it trips both of them up. I just asked my husband to bring one back for me and then I had to spend 5 minutes convincing him if he just said the words, "cheeseburger, plain" that the person at Mc Donald's would know what he wanted.

I order that almost every time, and I'd say 50% of the time I get a cheeseburger with everything on it lol.

I would not trust the McDonald's people enough to get what I wanted if I just said that. I specify cheeseburger just meat and cheese always. And still I only get that about 3/4 of the time

When I worked at McDonald's, we had a button for plain. Bun, meat, and cheese.

I always order cheeseburgers plain, the only time a restaurant gets it wrong is when they forget. So I'd tell them they don't need to understand they just need to say it that way lol.

I think it means meat, cheese, and bun, but I'd order it as "cheeseburger with meat and cheese only" to be safe. I'm still scarred from my experience of ordering a "plain cheeseburger" at a McDonald's in Sydney and receiving a cheeseburger with everything on it, including a beet. My 14 year old self was not pleased.

This is apparently a confusing matter - When I was pregnant, I ordered a spicy chk sandwich PLAIN from CFA .. The lady proceeded to ask if I wanted butter on the bun, I said PLAIN. She then proceeded to explain to me for 5 minutes why i should get the butter, and what's its for. OMG LADY PLAIN, I SAID PLAIN... it's difficult.
