@foodielicious I hope your hand heals quickly.
I either have a horrible cold or a sinus infection. I slept almost all of yesterday and still have an awful headache and low grade fever. I'm actually considering going to a minute clinic to get something because this sucks.
And now I have wiped out on my kitchen tile bruising both my knees and my hands.
I officially wish I had someone to take care of me instead of splatting while trying to get functional enough to get to make it to the minute clinic
We've had a productive weekend. But, kinda expensive. Picked up the car on Friday, did grocery shopping yesterday, scheduled the car for a _bunch_ of deferred maintenance that was just a pain in the ass to get done in Korea (the estimate on the work is high enough that the shop is offering up a loaner car without me even asking for it), unpacked some more boxes, managed to get the living room into some semblance of normal, and later tonight I'm going to my book club after finishing the month's reading since I found out about it on Thursday (I was invited to join the group on Wednesday). The bookclub is a potluck, so I'll need to make something for that.
This has been a quiet weekend. Yesterday I did three hours of yard work, finished our taxes (depressing both in terms of time and money) and watched TV. Today I have some work to do, workout, and dinner with friends.
I'm just glad you guys are acting like this is something that happens to everyone lol I'm ok...it'll be rough today..but no ER visit I think
I can't even trust myself with a curling iron. I have totally burned myself by grabbing the handle of a pan that came out of the oven. Never mind that it was just in a 400* oven, let me move it over without an oven mitt.
Want to thank whoever it was that sent the link for pinecone research. Want to say it was orangeblossom?? Been doing surveys for a while and was getting sorta bored of them. But I am going on vacation in a few weeks and just traded in my points for 2 free books! Still not sure if the time spent doing the surveys is worth it, but getting some stuff for free is nice!
My weekend has been great so far. Friday night BF and I hung out with a really fun couple, yesterday I met a good friend for brunch, then last night I went out for dinner with a few of my favorite former coworkers. They surprised me by treating me to my meal as a congratulations for my new job, which was SO sweet and unnecessary.
Today I'm just hanging out at home, hoping to do some cleaning and prepping food for the week so I can get back on track being healthy. I love Sundays with no plans, especially since I've had so much going on socially in the last couple of days.
Last year I went to pick up my straightener, the cord got caught on something and I started to drop it and ended up grabbing the hot end in my hand - so I feel your pain, op.
Lazy day today, did some cleaning, have bread pudding in the oven. Dh is at work for a few hours and then we'll hang out this afternoon and watch the Indycar race. This will probably be a busy week so I just want to chill.
We've had a nice weekend. The weather is stunning and of course Mr. Pom is gardening... the pool is heating up, so that's good news, so we can get in it soon. It's at 74 and that used to be good enough, but now I am more liking the high 70/80's. I'm old and I've been in Texas too long. We took a drive up to the Hill Country and enjoyed the bluebonnets and wildflowers. We drove out by LBJ's ranch and had a relaxing walk along the river.
I was looking at real estate last night and found this house I just can't stop thinking about...I am going to need a lottery win, LOL but it is just beyond amazing. mellymelnomad100 I had to share it with you guys, since I know you like this area too.
That's gorgeous! I'm more modern/transitional, so some of the decor is NMS*...the kitchen seems to have oddly low ceilings for it's size/grandeur....but I LOVE that arched detail on the stairs...can't tell if the treads are carpeted, but that would have to change if it is.
btw for all future reference I'm typing left handed only..,so forgive my typos...I'm slow enough without having to go back for corrections
*eta: it has great bones though...so decor is minor
I totally see the MM time share potential. I am willing to sell 4 properties and throw the proceeds at this one (it won't cover the cost BTW) LOL.
My mom's surprise party yesterday went off really well. She seemed genuinely surprised and grateful, and a lot of people turned out.
The Costco cake was fantastic. Thanks to all who recommended it!
I forgot the fruit platter at home ... oh well, it's a tasty snack at least. My brother put a lot of money and effort into it. Our sister, as usual, forgot half the stuff she was supposed to bring, didn't bring enough of what she DID remember to bring, showed up late, and spent the night drinking with her friends instead of cleaning up or anything.

I feel you. I have had a rough cold for an entire week, barely slept last night, and am worried how I'm going to get through work tomorrow. Hope you feel better soon.

Pretty good weekend! Went to a local beer festival yesterday, then spent the evening on the couch being useless. Now just being lazy and trying to get motivated to get ready for the upcoming week. So nice to relax after a busy month at work.
I've had a nice, low-key weekend. Today is my birthday, so I went out for brunch with my roommates this morning to celebrate. I don't have any concrete plans for the rest of the day.
Ouch! I've also burnt my neck with a curling iron and it looked like I had a hicky for a week.
A couple weeks ago, I lost my favorite coffee mug that I got as a free souvenir when we picked up my car 4.5 years ago. I've used it everyday since I got it so I've been really lost without it. I've been randomly reaching for it in places I use to set it.
I put it in the seat back on the plane and just walked off without it. H called CLT airport the second I got in the car and realized it was gone and they thought he was crazy. Then he called Boston since that was where the plane went next after dropping me off in CLT. They thought he was crazy. Poor H, he really tried.
So I finally gave up and after some research, I ordered a new mug on Amazon. $35! But I figured...4.5 years...it'll be worth it. And OMG it is TOTALLY worth it. BEST coffee mug ever. 6 hours and my coffee is still hot. Best part is it's leak proof so I just throw it in my bag so I'm hands free.
My folks are here, and while it's good to see the,, it's also very frustrating.
It's really cold, so stepmom doesn't want to go outside. Dad is having knee replacement in 6 weeks, which means he can hardly walk right now. So we can't go do anything. We've just been watching tv for 2 days. Yay. Or something. And then with dad's alzehimers, conversations are frustrating. *sigh*

Oh no! Hope your hand is feeling better @foodielicious.
I did a really fun local race this morning (which included running about 70 flights of stairs) I am not sure and feeling very pleased about this.
I stupidly scheduled clients this afternoon--I underestimated my disire to go day drinking while a sweaty mess. I have one last person coming at 3, then I'm DONE.
M if your new mug isn'ts spectacular get a contigo mug...leak proof with a lock keeps stuff hot for hours and the lid is dishwasher safe...I put the base in too, but you're not supposed to
I looked at that too. But I decided to give the Zojirushi a try. It is amazing. H was going to get one too but I'll have him try the contigo and see which one is better. Thanks!

My weekend was a little more reminiscent of college than I would have liked. Saturday we did some housework but then took the bus downtown in the afternoon to go bar hopping. We were going to head home in the early evening but then my brother decided to come meet us. We stayed out till 11pm, then came back to our house, then got up this morning to go to a champagne brunch. Which turned into more day drinking. My brother is a horrible influence, clearly.
Now I'm home and drinking a lot of water trying to prepare for the crazy week I know I have ahead.
