shelbyann -- that's awesome! I forget, are you training for anything specific or just increasing mileage as you can?
ditzydi - great job on your race! You look awesome in your pic; so pretty. I definitely need protein -- like real food protein from dairy or meat --after a long run too. I usually go for chocolate milk or yogurt right away. Then an egg & cheese sandwich and lots of water if I can stomach food after that. Glad you felt better. I feel like you've mentioned the migraine issue several times after races and that has got to be so frustrating. Congrats to you!

Thanks. I hated the way I looked in my previous race pictures and realized that it was because my hair was up. So I took it down after the race. Ha. I'm vain but heck if I run all these races, I should look good in my after race photos damnit. Ha. Yes, the migraines have been an ongoing issue. I loaded up on protein after an 8 mile run when I was training for the Austin Half and that was probably the only training run all year that I didn't get a migraine. So I figured I'd try the protein route again. Besides the protein load afterwards, I did everything you could do wrong before the race. Bought new shoes the day before. My ankles were starting to hurt in my old ones and I had worn them out after 200 miles. Didn't eat the night before. Couldn't decide what to eat. Then by the time I did get hungry it was really late. Didn't get enoug sleep. Woke up at 3:30 to go pee and then couldn't go back to sleep afterwards. Definitely not a plan I would recommend or plan to repeat. Ha.
thom - Not training for anything! Just trying to ditch some of the weight I gained last year. I had planned to do a half this spring but ehh, didn't happen.
I often read about the marathon training runs that all of you guys are doing and I'm just likeā¦damn, that's impressive. I feel like a running newb all over again.
Have you decided what you are going to do about CB yet?
I'm in for the full CB10. I'll bring my metro card just in case. But I don't think it'll be a problem. I discovered after RNR that the pelvic soreness is minimal if I do some walking after I finish a long run.
I decided that I'm out for the parkway classic though. I sent the email today. Physically I feel fine. But I stopped twice to pee during a 8 miler yesterday. I just don't think I'll have fun if it takes me forever to finish and I have to stop all the time. Also, it appears to be free to defer so I'll just do it next year.

I did very little working out over the weekend, but I did PR my overhead squat at 205# on Friday in a quick lifting session, then did CF Open WOD 15.5 on Sunday (suuucked).
We've done the Open WODs every Sunday which has been nice to get a Sunday workout in. We don't normally offer any classes/training times on Sundays. I'll miss it now that the Open is over!

ditzydi -- yes, the hair back in a ponytail thing is totally true! I'm still impressed your hair looks that awesome just pulling it down from a ponytail after a warm race.
shelbyann -- it is so funny to hear you say that. I think of you as such an awesome marathoner and one of my first big inspirations for getting into it to begin with.
Though I'm sure everything pre-baby seems like a lifetime ago for you right about now. I have no doubt that you'll get back to wherever you want with running once your sleep schedule gets better & the time is right. 10 miles is still pretty fabulous with a 1 year old!

I look like I have no hair when my hair is pulled back. Ha. Surprisingly it wasn't that warm yesterday. The wind kept it pretty cool for most of the race.

Yay! I'm sure you'll do great. Hopefully winter will finally go away by then.
Wow, I'm kinda shocked that it is so easy to defer the Parkway Classic, but that is awesome.
