It went as well as a first day could go, I suppose!
I had orientation in the morning and we went over benefits and payroll and all that good stuff. I'll have another half day of that tomorrow to talk about security protocols and all that jazz.
In the afternoon I had lunch with my girlfriend who works there and then my new boss came and met us. After lunch he showed me around, showed me my cube (super small) and I met a MILLION people in my division/IT/etc...
We talked about some of the projects I'll be starting right away and then I had to get my badge picture taken and visit IT for some computer issues.
My old hours were 7 - 3:30 and my new hours will be 8 - 4:30 so that kind of stinks, but after I get used the place I'll get to readjust those to do some flex hours and such. I'm going to get a laptop too in order to telecommute eventually. That's super exciting to me!
The only downside is really my cube. It's half the size as my old cube and I have a trunk full of office stuff that I'm not sure where I'm going to put it. I'm going to ask tomorrow to see if they can cram another file cabinet or something in there. We'll see. I'm hoping I'll get an office eventually.
Other than that, everything was pretty awesome. There is a 24 hour fitness center on site, a Starbucks in the cafeteria, and NO dress code!
I still can't believe it really happened. I feel like I'm going to wake up tomorrow and have to go back to my old job. LOL
