I ended up missing my long run (8 miles) yesterday due to the nerve pain in my shoulder and elbow. I tried to go, but after about a mile I just couldn't deal with the pain. Thankfully I was finally able to manipulate the nerve back into place last night so the pain has resided for the most part. I can't run today because I had to be at work early since I need to leave early to attend a mass for a friend tonight. What should I do? Should I try and stretch out my Tuesday and Thursday runs from 4.5 each to 6ish? Or should I just stick to what is on the plan for this week? My long run on Saturday is a 10K and it's a "challenging" course from what I have read because its hilly and then goes over the bridge twice.
Being that you are training for your first half, I think mentally knowing you can run 8 is important. When I was unable to get long runs in during my weekends, I would play "hookie" from work, even for half a day, to get my runs in. Is that possible? Leave work early or go in late one day this week to get in 8 miles?
