I'm signed up for my first marathon in Sept. I also have a 10 mile race and a half in June so I'm trying to figure out my training schedule.
Usually, I do long runs on Saturdays but I've taken up TRX classes on Sat mornings over the past few months and really want to keep at it for strength during training. I work half days on Fridays in the summer so was thinking my long run could be Fridays and TRX Saturdays. Maybe Rest Thurs or Sunday? Would back to back long run and TRX be too much?

I don't think it'll be too much -- especially if you're used to doing TRX. Plus, you'll have the running first so if you do have a rough run or need a day off you'll end up missing strength, not a long run. Not necessarily better but easier on the brain when you're mid-training!
I think this works well if you can do your long run Friday morning and go into work a bit later if needed. I agree that afternoon long runs sound miserable unless you really like the heat. OR - if you can handle starting long runs later on Friday afternoon and ending them in the dark to take advantage of the evening cool down. I often do early morning Friday long runs in summer anyway because it's nice to have extra time on the weekend!
