In my disaster of an attempt at a long run yesterday I ran into issues with my Nuun squirting out of my bottle that was on my hydration belt. I used the nuun last week and didn't have this issue. I did make it yesterday and put it in the bottle and then stuck it in the fridge for about 30 minutes while I was outside with DS who was riding his bike. It literally was squirting out of the bottle soaking me. I opened the cap to vent it, took the cap off and then drank some, but it continued to happen. My doctor (who is a marathoner herself) wants me to sip Nuun on my long runs because my high blood pressure medicine contains a diuretic and I had noticed that on my long runs my hands were swelling really bad. I tried it for the first time last weekend and even though I probably took only about 2-3 ounces of the 6 ounce bottle my hands weren't swollen.
Omg I effing hate that. I've no idea how to fix it. Even when I drop the nuun in the night before, leave the cap off til morning, it still happens. I've changed caps, put less water in, let it sit a while etc and it still happens. I'm always soaked for the first mile then it seems to stop. Hope someone here has the answer lol
Love of my life baby boy born 11/11. One and done not by choice; 3 years of TTC yielded 4 MMC and 2 CPs, through 4 IUIs and 2 IVFs. Focusing on making the world a better place instead...and running.
I let it sit with the cap off while the tab dissolves. Then I vent it several times in the first mile and make sure I have my mouth on the mouth of the bottle when I drink. It usually settles after a bit.
