We just had our anatomy scan. It's a girl!!! So exciting!
Everything looked great, except they found an echogenic focus/spot in her heart. The doctor said it's common and probably nothing, but sometimes it can be a marker for Down syndrome. We are doing the Verifi test, which should come back in 10 days. I'm a little nervous...
Anybody had any experience with this?
** UPDATE **
Just got the results from the Verifi test. Baby girl is perfectly healthy!! I'm so happy!!
Congrats and welcome to team pink! I don't have experience with the echogenic focus on the heart, but our baby had echogenic bowel at our anatomy scan, which can also be a marker for Down Syndrome. I had the Harmony test done and those results came back low risk. We have a repeat anatomy scan this Thursday to check the echogenic bowel again. Our MFM said that with only one soft marker for Down Syndrome (bowel), the risk of it being significant was low.

Congrats on your baby girl-they're tons of fun! I don't have experience with the heart stuff, but was under the impression they oftentimes clear up. Hope everything turns out perfectly!

I'm glad to hear everything is fine with your baby. I really hope it's nothing, and for what I'm reading online chances are it will be fine, but it still makes me nervous...

I totally understand the nerves. I did a lot of reading too after our first anatomy scan. There are a lot of scary things on the Internet, so I would recommend trying not to do too much reading so you don't worry yourself.

congrats on baby girl!
noah had an eif (echogenic intracardiac focus) too, i was a complete and utter crying mess all weekend when i found out on a friday. luckily a friend of mine got me in touch with a high risk OB and he said if that was the only marker they found, then i shouldn't even worry bc it's an absolutely weak marker, if not the weakest marker, for downs. and found alone and not in conjunction with any other markers, it's even weaker.
my son is 3 and he's perfect, so there's that.
i'll be thinking of you (my due date twin!), please update when you can. sending my best thoughts all is completely fine and well.
Thanks! It is the only marker they found, everything else looked great in the NT scan and the Anatomy Scan. I'm hopeful everything will be fine.

Congrats! We had echogenic bowels and baby is fine. I bet your doc is right that yours is fine, too. Yay for your little girl!
