Not remotely H&F related. I JUST PRE ORDERED CRONUTS!! None of this knockoff crap, but the real, original, cronut. From Dominque Ansel bakery in NYC. I am so excited. I have had the date marked on my calendar for a month.
We're going to be there 4/16-4/19 and the order window opened this morning. The flavor for April is strawberry rhubarb w/a thyme ganache & citrus sugar. You either have to 1) Wait in line outside of the bakery for a couple of hours or 2) Pray that you get through the pre-order chaos. It was not looking good. It kept having errors and kicking me out. When I got through, the pre-orders were all gone. I left the site up in case anyone got kicked out of their orders, and magically new cronuts appeared!! On 4/17 at 10 AM, I will be stuffing my face with cronut delciousness.
I didn't know you could pre-order! I hope that didn't exist last June when we were in NYC, because if so, I missed out because of my negligence in researching.
If you are up for more ridiculous pastry deliciousness, try to hit up a Doughnut Plant for a crème brulee donut. It was seriously one of the best things I've ever eaten.

I am so excited for a big fitness conference in May that I go to each year. Sometimes, it is the only time I see my friends in the field and we always have a blast.

It is spring break but daycare is still open (and already paid for). So I dropped off DD, went for a leisurely 2100yd swim, and will spend the rest of the day reading.
clseale your post is killing me because I came in to post a random about RUNGER. This is a 2-day delay from my last long run- usually I'm on a 1 day lag. Today I've eaten my lunch and all the snacks I brought, and I am ready to sit down and devour a full-on turkey dinner or gigantic cheeseburger (or now, cronuts!)

Speaking of pastry deliciousness, I think H and I have decided we are going to Paris in the fall for our 10 year anniversary. I really don't care if the only thing we do while we're there is eat. Well, perhaps we should drink too.

Friday morning, I woke up with the top of my foot swollen and red- so much that I couldn't wear a shoe. It kept getting worse, and I ended up at Urgent Care Saturday morning. Xrays didn't show an obvious fracture, but the doctor gave me crutches and told me not to put weight on my foot until I could get in with the ortho to confirm.
My H has been rather....less than supportive this weekend. Not for a lack of caring, but he's very much a 'doctors are for wimps' kind of guy. We had a bunch of plans,(which I insisted on keeping) so I spent the weekend trying to keep up with all of our errands while on crutches, which was challenging. I knew it wouldn't last much longer last night when I went from the kitchen to the couch with a beer in my bra and an ipad in my pants, lol.
It's feeling and looking a million times better today, and I couldn't even imagine how hard it would have been navigating my workday on crutches so I left them at home. But since I still can't wear a dressy shoe, I am rocking my furry moccasins in court!
Jealous, chw57! Ours closes for spring break (follows school schedule), but a few teachers run a camp. So I got to pay once, and now pay again (at $40/day). I went to drop DS off at our regular time, and found out they weren't starting until 8. He thought it was awesome to hang out in my car for 20 minutes, though.
As for me, I am so dang hungry! My runger usually kicks in the day after a long run, but I was fine yesterday. Today, I'm just trying to hold out for an acceptable time (11:30, maybe? lol) before I dig into my lunch. I never would have imagined I'd be so keen to dig in to leftover kale and tofu stir fry.

Oh my gosh, yes! Our favorite thing we did there on our last trip was to take the train to the Champagne region and have tasting appointments. I could die and go to heaven just thinking about it.

I am looking forward to vacation yet dreading the plane trip with a 2.5 year old. She's flown a few times before and it's never a good experience.
DH and I had a much needed mini getaway this weekend. It seemed to have rekindled something we were missing since our lives went hectic with bringing a kid into our lives. He's a very happy person right now. He said he feels like a weight has been lifted.
My heel is starting to hurt. Not sure why. Running maybe? I've noticed others mention it here.
I'm considering skipping today's wod of 15.5 since I already did it and running instead. Not sure.

Good luck with your trip! How far do you have to fly? My DS is 3 now, and flying is definitely more of a chore than it was when he was younger. We just did Kauai and took on a car seat for the first time, and keeping him from kicking the seat in front of him likely took some years off my life. Glad to hear you and your H feel recharged after the weekend away! That always helps us too.

UGH, annoying! This is our third daycare but the first one that doesn't exactly follow the school schedule and it's SO NICE

I tell myself that the good outweighs the bad! We actually pay less where we are now, because it's a local chain and not a big corporate one, and the teachers are all REALLY HAPPY because they get this extra paid time off.

Thanks! Our first flight will be almost 5 hours then the second maybe an hour. Total of 6-ish. We flew a few months ago with a car seat for the first time and it was so much better than having a lap kid but the kicking thing was an issue. We got some nasty looks from the person in front of my kid on the trip back. This time I booked three seats in a row and booked the seat in front of the toddler for my teen so the little one annoys her! HA! Unfortunately they changed our flights so one of the long ones will have a stranger in front of us. That poor person.
Kidless weekends away are a must I'm starting to see. We have weekends without them but we stay home and it doesn't do the same thing (recharge) that being away does.

I'm creepy and need to know... have you been to Charleston yet? I need a foodie report.
Mr. GT is going to visit his parents for spring break, I love him to death, but I am SO excited to have the house to myself for a week. The bonus is I miss out on visiting with his folks, they are throwing two parties so all their friends can meet him. Meeting and talking to 70 old people who I may meet once a year is not my idea of a good time.
I'm going on vacation on Friday and I can't wait! OMG so excited! I NEED a vacation. My last few weeks have been crazy. Nothing 'bad', just never ending mayhem. I'm home alone with DD this week while H is in Amsterdam...why does he always get sent to work in fun places like Amsterdam? My last trip was to Saudi, most rocking of all countries in the world (it was a good educational experience, but it was not Amsterdam).
Four days until Bhutan! Not that I'm counting...
Also, I ran this morning. It was as humid as can be, but I survived even with the Bob. I'm really scared about what happens the day the DD refuses to ride in Bob.
And in other weather news, it has hit the upper '90's way too many times already for it to still be March.
Oh forgot about this random. When I first started running and posted a progress pic of my weight loss journey a few months in I got a lot of feedback and people telling me I inspired them to run too. That pretty much dropped off until this past week when I invited a few CF friends who are non-runners to do a local 5k with me. I sort of peer pressured them into it! Kind of but not really. I told them I would run with them and then they started signing up for the race! This weekend I was talking to one of ladies that signed up and she decided to start running on her own. Then another one started as well. She said she blames me for putting evil running thoughts in her head but that's OK. It makes me happy to see others want to better themselves and to know I was part of that reason.
I also ran with another CF friend this weekend and invited another to join next time and then that sparked others wanting to join in. So COOL!

All the above.
It seriously has been hot here too. Not humid thankfully but freaking hot for March. I don't appreciate this 90-ish degree weather and having to plan my runs around it.

That's genius! I may propose the seat in front thing to MH for our next trip. We could trade off who gets it - you either deal with kicking or the kid. And YES! The kid-free part is the key. We went to Vegas in January just us, and it was so nice.

I decided to dye easter eggs with my kid over the weekend. I wasn't really thinking when I went to the store to get eggs, and I bought the same kind I always buy, which are organic brown eggs. Helpful tip: brown eggs do not dye very well. I didn't figure this out until after I'd already cooked them all. So then I had to send DH out to the store to get a dozen white eggs. The end result was we had two dozen hard boiled eggs in our house. Thankfully we were going to dinner at a friend's house on Saturday night, so I told her I was bringing deviled eggs. That got rid of the brown ones. Now we need to work on eating the rest this week.

H has today off since he worked saturday. I got in an upper body workout and we did a 4.3 mile hike with the dogs. He had a dr appointment this morning too and now he will have surgery next tuesday for his gallbladder. I plan on doing nothing the rest of the fay my feet hurt since the shoes i hike in arent broken in yet.

Oh man, I'm sorry about the surgery! I hope he's not laid up long.

Get yourself a DKA or two while youre there! And have fun, let me know if you need any other recs.
I got back from iceland last night. Im exhausted, bloated, feeling lazy, pissing off everyone around me, and so ive just decided im meant for a life of leisure, and i need to figure out how to make that happen.
I couldn't stop hacking last night so I had to sleep upright on the couch and my body is hating that decision
I'm working on manuscripts at home so my toxic germs are not spread around. Good for productivity despite the sickness, but bummed because working here at home means I couldn't use the the pool as it reopened today. I had a whole drill set laid out for myself... I hate missing workouts.
H's debit card number was stolen. Awesomesauce.
But on the upside, I found myself browsing through ironman's site and wondering whether I could really do epic shit like that.

It is outpatient the sugery itself should about an hour. Then he is on recovery for 7 to 10 days. So it shouldnt be to bad. Recovery is more he isnt allowed to workout than anything else. i am glad because once hehas he will stop having the pain atgacks which were terrible. so thankful this base didnt play around with this like our last base did.
Speaking of vacations, I just figured out that I'll be landing in Italy in approximately 2 months and 1 hour. I can't wait! The timing will be perfect, too, because I'll start my marathon training proably right after our vacation, so I can lose the (sure to be) 10+ pounds I'll gain while eating and drinking my way down the country.
CallingAllAngels, that sounds heavenly. On our last night in Paris, we spent hours cafe hopping. We probably hit 5 different cafes, drinking wine & eating plates of stinky cheese and delicious bread. It was amazing.
jwright, we went last weekend! We had such a great time. When we got into town on Friday we were starving and headed straight to the Butcher & Bee. It was delicious. I don't know how they make a simple roast beef sandwich so amazing, but the beef combined with the onion jam & delicious bread, was drool worthy. DH got the Italian which was also quite good.
That evening we had dinner at Husk. Everything was tasty. Service was good. We heard that we should try the lettuce pig ear wraps, so we started with that. DH had a steak and I had bison short rib. The vegetables that came with my dish were incredible. With that said, overall, I would opt to go back for lunch or brunch, but maybe not dinner. I only say that because they are open for both & I think you could have a similar experience for less $. We really did enjoy Husk, though. After dinner we had drinks at the Gin Joint.
Saturday morning we went to Queen Street Grocery, which was a nice change of pace. Thanks for that rec! DH wanted to check out a place that was rated to have a great brewery selection, so we actually winded up a bit out of town at the Tattooed Moose for lunch, where I stuffed my face w/a duck club. After that, we visited COAST brewery. Dinner Saturday was at FIG. Sigh. We LOVED FIG. We started with fantastic drinks at the bar. Once we were seated we opted for the ricotta gnocchi appetizer, then I went with the fish stew & DH had triggerfish. Both were delicious. Beyond the food, the staff could not have been more on point. They were extremely knowledgeable and passionate about food. It just made you excited to eat there. I don't really know how to explain it, but both DH and I agreed that staff wise, it might have been one of our most enjoyable dining experiences, plus as I mentioned, all of the food was fantastic.
Sunday we were going to go to Macintosh for brunch, but we woke feeling overindulged. LOL We decided to get an earlier start home, HOWEVER, on the way out of town DH started to get hungry. A girl I work with had told me about the early bird diner, so we stopped there before heading home.
All in all, a delicious weekend. I already have a restaurant list started for when we go back. Thanks for your help!
