Ughhhhhhh. Does he qualify for UE? File right away because it can take some time. You can get cobra coverage, right?
Are you ready to kill him? I would be so livid even while trying to be supportive. Big huge zombie hugs. (hug) (hug2)
We're figuring that out now. I don't know how his termination is being labeled, he's unsure now as well. We contacted HR so we'll see what they say and if he qualifies for unemployment.
I'm ready to kill him while also be supportive.
Don't ask HR if he qualifies. File with the UE office and let the company fight it if that's what they choose.
apalettepassion.wordpress.com/ WHO IS BONQUIQUI!?!?!?!??!

I know this is frustrating, but you guys will be ok, financially right? In the meantime, to conserve money, can he take care of the baby instead of the au pair?
I am sorry you are dealing with this.
Well, we can manage for a bit. Not forever. Couple months.
To clarify: he isn't going to ask HR about unemployment. I just meant so we would know what to say when filing tomorrow.
He telecommutes basically, so he wasn't pulled into an office and let go. He was let go over the phone, then had to drive his company car to a meet up spot and then his manager had to drive him home.

My kid is in daycare, no au pair.
Oh! I thought your parents were paying for an au pair!

Oh man, that sucks. Hope he finds something soon and they don't fight UC

This is bullshit. I'm so sorry. I can't believe it was handled that way.

Holy shit, the way they handled that was so shitty - having to drive the company car in after being notified, wow. I think I might have missed some details from your OP, but I wanted to add that I know in my state COBRA is retroactive, so you can wait to file until the last week and still be covered for the previous weeks - I think, but it's been a while since I've really had to deal with that.
