Somebody fucked up my lawn without my permission. I came home and found this. [insert your pics here]
How angry would you be?
(1) Angry Neeson Level! I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for ransom, I can tell you I don't have money. But what I do have is a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you fix my yard now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you. I will not pursue you. But, if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you.
(2) Conan Hulk Smash Level. Pretty angry but relatively harmless.
(3) Drunk Cinderella Level. It's nothing that can't be fixed.
I would be pissed. Whatever they did, the lawn was obviously too wet for it, and they should have been able to discern that before starting, or at least have stopped when they got to the too-wet part. The grass should grow back, and if it doesn't they'll obviously have to re-seed it at no cost to you, but the fact that you have to have muddy ruts until that happens is annoying.
The mud on the sidewalk would annoy me too, not the little bits so much but that huge splatter. It should all go away the next time it rains, but since I would be pissed at them for the ruts and the unsolicited service and not putting the trampoline back safely, I would also complain about that. They shouldn't leave *that* much of a mess, and they could have easily cleaned it up.
And I would DEFINITELY call myself. I don't get the logic behind making your DH call when he doesn't even care. He's not going to handle it fully, plus it bugs me when women have their husbands handle things for them.
Duuude, what!? He would not be my lawn guy any longer. I would be so pissed that they did that! Also, I've literally never heard of scalping a yard, but it sounds like a terrible idea.

I've scalped my yard twice, both times to reseed in the fall. I'd need to know that the service hasn't applied any preemergent yet. Then, they need to level the raised mud/ruts, seed & put down starter fertilizer, provide offset for increased water bill and never, ever, ever run equipment when my yard is that wet again. That's just sloppy, rushed work.
And put the trampoline back or discuss with you a weekly rotation if you don't want one area of grass to die off.
