Y'all! It's been at least three months since I've participated in one of these posts. I took an unintended break from running and finally got back on track in March.
I've got 51 miles as of today and hoping to get 3 in tonight after work.
It's not much but sure beats the 3 miles I ran in the whole month of Jan. and Feb!!
I hit 105!!! My goal was 100 so I'm super happy. Plus, most of those were treadmill miles so I'm proud that I stuck it out even though I've about hit my limit for staring out at my basement all the time.
Susie -- that is so impressive! When you hike all these peaks is it always on snowshoes? Or are their summer trails too? Congrats on your milestone.
Thank you!
Of the 46, we did 12 in winter, 4 in conditions that might as well be winter but were technically post-equinox (by a week or less), and the other 30 were spring/fall hiking.
We started out doing them in spring/fall in 2007 (summer = black fly season, so we tend to avoid it). In around 2011, we got the necessary gear to start doing them in winter too. Winter is harder in some ways, but easier in others, plus it does not conflict with tri season or running - so we've done a bunch in the winter the past few years. Fall is my favorite time for the trips that we backpack/camp instead of day hike.
We blogged the whole 46 experience at adk46.wordpress.com. For some of the unmarked trails, it was sort of a "give back" kind of thing, since I rely on other peoples' blogs to know what to expect/look for on trails to help navigate. It is also neat to have the whole journey in one place to look back on. I am sure a lot of the pics look the same-ish, but to me they are all totally different places
Susie -- I didn't know you kept a blog on this! I'll definitely check it out later. I also didn't fully realize the enormity of it, and I don't know how you balanced it with HIM training. I totally understand getting the winter gear, and I'm glad you finished before you're too pregnant to enjoy it.
Is there some sort of group or club you get to join now, or just the feel good of knowing you did it? Either way, it is awesome .

The ADK 46rs are a club that we now get to join (http://adk46er.org). We have to submit info on our 46 climbs, and they will assign us registered 46r climber numbers. We won't be officially inducted until early 2016, since they only do that annually. You get a certificate which is just kind of for your own "yay." Once you're a club member, there are club events and lots of trail stewardship type stuff to get involved in. The 46rs sponsor (financially as well as providing man power) trail maintenance and lean-to rescue (rebuilding dilapidated lean-tos) throughout the ADKs.
I am really hoping Hobbes enjoys the outdoors and that we are able to do some of this stuff as a family in the years to come.

I'm going to check in with 50 now to ensure I go out and do the 3.5 I need this afternoon (it's supposed to rain and I don't want to be stuck on the treadmill again!). I was aiming for 65 but took a week off last week when the "but I don't wanna run" hit. Plus it was frigid again!
Love of my life baby boy born 11/11. One and done not by choice; 3 years of TTC yielded 4 MMC and 2 CPs, through 4 IUIs and 2 IVFs. Focusing on making the world a better place instead...and running.
