I am cranky this morning because I ended up sleeping like shit last night as SM decided to call at 10:30 pm last night just as I was getting to sleep and got me all riled up. In my family, calling after 9 pm generally means someone is dead or very sick so when I see the caller ID I start mentally preparing myself for bad news and here's how the conversation goes:
Me: Hello?
SM: Hi, how are you?
Me: Fine, what's going on?
SM: Who is this?
Me: Um.. achi. Is everyone ok?
SM: Oh no, I called the wrong number! Your dad told me my friend had called twice while I was in the shower and so I was just returning the call.
Me: I see. Well I'm definitely not her. I'm going to try to go back to sleep now.
achi that is so frustrating! It's the same way in my family, any calls at night mean something bad.
I didn't sleep very well either last night. I slept funny and woke up with a back ache and my arm hurt. It was weird. I'm also feeling a bit nauseated this morning for the first time since finding out I was pregnant.
I was really tempted to place a maternity clothes order from Old Navy this morning. I gained weight over the winter so a lot of my clothes are tight to begin with. Old Navy also has cute maternity maxi dressed for only $15 right now. I resisted though and will wait a few more weeks.
daisyfay25 that is frustrating! I've had periods of insomnia around 4-ish on and off throughout the pregnancy.
suzv I vote buy the dresses. I wish we had the maternity section available online in Canada. What's in store is such a small selection and ordering from the US is $$$.
achi I'm not sure where you are but Motherhood Maternity has bogo on all their sale items right now. I have not bought from them but if they have your size in anything you like it is a great deal.
I have been getting so many leg cramps and Charlie horses at night and it really sucks. On the bright side though, my cousin gave me two bags of maternity clothes on the weekend so now I have almost a complete wardrobe. The only thing that I am going to buy now are some tanks from Old Navy to wear with my long skirts. Also, I feel like I am really starting to get big. I'm scared of how big I am going to be come August!
Thanks coda! I've seen the sale, unfortunately because I'm in the plus sized section the selection, well, is shit quite frankly. I'm finding more items at Old Navy or wearing regular clothes in a size up since it seems very few companys know how to design maternity wear that is actually flattering and not entirely tent like.
Sorry you're having so many leg cramps! I know it sounds weird but have you tried putting a bar of soap at the bottom of your bed? I did it and I have very few leg cramps (knock on wood!). One of my friends also had some success at avoiding or minimizing cramps by eating a banana right before bed.

I actually did think about the soap trick. My bf will probably think I am crazy haha.
I don't know why, but ever since the night I found out I was pg (Thursday) I cannot sleep. I toss and turn all night and it is so annoying. I have no idea if this is a pregnany symptom, but I am over it already. I know sleep goes to crap in the 2nd and 3rd tri, but at 5 weeks? Not fair!

My last pregnancy was like this, I had pregnancy induced insomnia basically as soon as the pee stick dried. It lasted the entire pregnancy.
On the sleep front, I got to sleep in till 6:30 this morning! Which is the latest I've slept in probably at least a month!

I found that in the very early weeks. Eventually my body got over it and my sleep went back to normal. Well, normal minus the frequent peeing and random 4 am bouts of insomnia. Now the insomnia is gone for the most part, but I still pee a lot.

I had it too. It sucks. Sorry.
I have one week left to my semester and I just want to be done. One paper to write, and one to edit and resubmit.
This flu has been brutal, but I'm starting to feel like I'm finally on the other side. Now if the cough would go away, I'd feel human. And I'd like my appetite back - all food sounds disgusting, and that's never been an issue for me, even in first tri.
I had a dream last night that I had this baby and it was (surprise) twin boys. But they wouldn't let us take them home because they said I had postpartum depression and they also wouldn't let us see them or feed them. I know it was just a dream but I'm still feeling..,unsettled this AM
Ugh, I'm so tired. I am not sleepign well either. Have to get up every 2 hours to pee. And I'm so sick of sleeping on my side.
This morning sucked. I am 33 weeks and still getting morning sickness. Usually it is just nausea but today I tried so hard not to puke but it came up anyway. So frustrating. I am so freaking sick of being sick and throwing up.
I'm sorry noodleoo I hope you start feeling better soon!!!
I had an OB appt this morning and got to hear the heartbeat again:) I also booked my A/S and 3 weeks from today! I am so excited to find out the sex of the baby!
@preppy, yay for finding out the sex soon! Any gut feelings?
madringal. That happened to me too when I first found out I was pregnant. It went away eentually.
I'm starting to get a little uncomfortable while I sleep, I usually sleep on my stomach, but now I'm worried I'll hurt te baby. I was thinking of getting one of those pregnancy pillows a try. Do you guys recommend any particular brand?
Oh, one more. I'm shocked at how vivid my dreams are now. In general, I never remember my dreams. But they have been so vivid since I found out I was pregnant, I remember them every morning. I've dreamt about summer camp 3 different times in the past week. Strange.
I ordered a bunch of maternity clothes from old navy yesterday. I can't wait for them to arrive!
I also tried to cut down on the amount of diclegis I'm taking each day, but I think that was a mistake because I felt like crap last night.
Thanks, everyone! I appreciate the thoughts.
Yeah, I'm actually still taking half a Unisom every night (which is the OTC version of Diclegis). Every time I try to stop thinking I don't need it anymore, I get sick. (even with it, I'm still getting sick). I need to ask my Dr. if it is okay that I've been taking it my whole pregnancy. I think it is fine, but I haven't mentioned it in a while.

I had my 12 week appointment yesterday and got to hear the heartbeat! She had a bit of trouble finding it which worried me at first, but it was so neat to hear it. <3
eta: we also did the genetic testing and will know the sex of the baby in, oh, 7-14 days! Omg omg omg omg

They're moving around so much at that point that it's normal for them to take a minute or so to find it. Even at my 16 week appointment it took my midwife a good 3-4 minutes. She'd find it for a 2-3 beats and then he'd move and she'd have to chase him.

I have this one which I like because you can either have it put together as one piece, or use the sections separatelyΒ

I think it's a boy because my three sisters each have 2 boys and my brother has 2 girls. DH thinks it's a girl.
Also I have the Bump Nest. I LOVE IT. www.bumpnest.com/ DH bought it for me for Valentines. It's amazing.

I'm right on the cusp of plus sized, and finding clothes that are flattering and professional has been a freaking nightmare. I'm in senior management, so I can't exactly wear tshirts and leggings (or bedazzled, WTF?) to work. I've been looking forward to spring so I can get some dresses/skirts, but am not finding anything that isn't way too short, way too long, or looks like it's going to fall apart after one washing. I've been getting stuff from Loft, but they literally have 6 maternity dresses right now. Two of which I've already had to return because even in petite they are a mile and a half too long for me. I swear if I ever win the lottery I am going to fund a maternity line for women who are over a size 12 and work in the professional world. Ugh!
noodleoo, I'm sorry you're still getting sick. My I-haven't-eaten-enough-today nausea has been back the past few days, and it coupled with reflux that won't die no matter what I take has really taken a toll on me. Last night, I got home with an empty stomach, had a coughing fit, and was so violently ill in the upstairs bathroom that the dog was standing at the bottom the stairs looking concerned.
On the plus side, we bought a memory foam topper (for our memory foam bed, sigh), and I managed to make it til 4 am this morning before my hips/knees started hurting. And that was without any other pillows, so I guess I'll add a pillow tonight and see if that helps. (Doesn't stop me from having to pee 15 times a night, of course.)
I'm cranky too. I slept okay, but my low back/upper butt has been hurting. My RLP is acting up. I'm feeling a little short of breath. And I'm hungry, but not. My coworker has said I'm not myself today.
My mom left to go back home today. My parents will be back in May to visit, and of course when the baby comes in July, but I just wish that they lived closer.
