UPDATE: Surgery went well!! Everything went as planned and he is doing well. My grandma was able to spend the evening with him. He is having some pain but that was to be expected. It's so hard being so far from him. I wanted to skip out of work today and go visit but I think I will give him some time to rest. Oh and I have a crazy story! This is going to sound nuts, but I honestly believe that all your thoughts and prayers made this happen. So my uncle walks in to see my Grandpa for the first time after surgery and my grandpa asked him where I was. My uncle said "What do you mean? Mindy's at home, she's working". My grandpa said "No, she was with me in the recovery room. I woke up and she was standing by my bed and told me to take it easy and not to move too much. I fell back asleep and when I woke up she was gone". I got chills when he told me this!

Thank you all so much for all your positive thoughts, reading them really helped me get through yesterday. Love you ladies.

My Grandpa is in surgery today. He is having his upper lobe (lung) removed because of lung cancer. He is at a hospital 2.5 hours away and my Grandma is there with him (staying in a hotel). He's 72. My father is not in my life so my Grandpa has always been like a dad to me. He walked me down the aisle at my wedding. I just can't picture my life without him. I'm a mess today. I can't even imagine what my Grandma must be feeling. We could use some positive thoughts and prayers. Thanks so much.

Here he is at my wedding. I love him so much.

Good thoughts for him.

My grandma had a similar surgery in February 2014 and she is now cancer free. She was 80 and her hospital stay was a bit longer than anticipated but she's doing really well now.
