For my SIL's wedding, I was emailing my inlaws about hotels. We decided to stay at the same hotel, because the venue has limited parking and then we could just take one car. They are part of the "club" or whatever that goes with these hotels, so they asked if we'd like them to make the reservations to get the best rate. I said sure if they could get us less than $x that I found online. The next day, I got an email saying they booked the rooms and it was the same price as the best price I saw, too. But then I looked at the reservation and it's Thurs-Sun, but we are only going to be there Fri-Sun. I immediately emailed back letting them know. Turns it's non-refundable. They said, "Don't worry about it."
I feel bad that they are planning to eat that extra night, it was an honest mistake. But, this wedding is already costing us a lot and we really cannot afford to pay another night - especially since we aren't using it.
So, should we:
not worry about it as they said pay for all three days pay for our two days and half or a portion of the extra
I wouldn't worry about it, but I would also ask them to call the hotel to let them know that you're actually checking in Friday and not to cancel your room for the whole stay because you actually aren't a no show.
