I feel like I'm always looking for something in my house.
Right now, DH and I are on an epic hunt for our set of P90 X DVDs. My closet is cleaned out, I've cleaned out about six drawers, I've organized the entertainment center in the spare room, DH had organized the entire garage, and I am working on emptying out the closet in the spare room. At this point, I feel like I should say a prayer to St. Tony Little.
We owe today to the wonders of spring break and PGE, who cut the cable/Internet line to our house when they were doing maintenance on the power pole.
I'm always looking for something because DH's idea of "tidying up" means taking things off the kitchen counter and shoving them into random drawers. I find stuff that belongs in the bathroom in a kitchen drawer. Drives me bonkers!
At work I am always looking for my favorite pen even though I always keep it near me on the desk it usually gets moved around in the paper shuffle.

My H does the same thing. That's a problem because I'm sure I have ADD, and if I need to take care of something at a later time, if I don't leave it where I can see it to remind me, I'll forget that I need to take care of it. Usually I don't realize I have lost something until I find it.
DH also likes to give stuff away. I can't say I love it when he does that without talking to me first. Of course, he tends to forget that he's given something away, and spends days trying to figure out he might have loaned it to, or who might have stolen it.

The retracting measuring tape. I usually take it around and measure random places in our house that we need furniture, art, dreaming of a new kitchen design. Then I leave it in some random nearby spot and gave no idea where I left it.

We recently moved and are not fully unpacked, so I can't find anything! In our old place I was constantly losing my phone. It has a dark gray case that was like camouflage on our granite countertops.
Eta: last night was spent looking for the cords to the printer that somehow got separated from it in the move, and we still haven't found them...

Lately the answer is my left contact lens. Yes just the left one. I don't know why. I was just outside saying goodbye/good night to a friend who came over for dinner and I just blinked the lens out of my left eye. I saw it blow to my right out of the corner of my but of course witb only monovision I wasn't going to be able to find it - nor would I put it back in after it tumbled into my yard. My right eye is fine. I really don't get it.
Some really important pictures they are in frames so they can't be too hidden but I cannot find them and I am really sad!!
They are fair photobooth strips of me and H for the last 11 years- we get one every year since we started dating. I'm sure I put them "somewhere safe" when I didn't have space to display them, now I bought a new frame and can't find them.
Our BP monitor. I used to keep it in one spot in the family room but at Christmas we ' straightened up' and put it away. H can't remember where. I have torn the house apart and can't find it. I am buying a new one this weekend.
My keys! It's so frustrating because I never lose important things like that. I keep most of my keys separate because otherwise it would be insanely bulky with all the car key fobs. So the set I lost has my safe deposit, PO box, house and storage lock keys. So the important set. I lost it before we moved and thought surely as we pack it will show up. Nope.
Usually shoes. My dog will take one shoe and hide it in her cage or under my bed. DS's shoes too. I think she figures that if we don't have shoes we can't go anywhere....
My passport. I took it to work because I needed to fill out the paperwork to get it renewed. And then.... it was gone. Couldn't find it, couldn't remember taking it home. I looked through the bags that I use for work, I looked all over my office. I have a stack of random stuff sitting under a chest in my room, I looked there. Looked all over my dresser.
Nothing. I was BAFFLED.
Then one day I eyed up that pile under the chest. I was POSITIVE that it had to be there. Looked. NOthing. Then I kind of sat on the floor, really looked UNDER the chest. Then my eyes moved to the left where I had a few shopping bags folded up between the chest and the wall - and low and behold, there was my passport.
how on EARTH it got there, no idea. but thank God I finally found it!!
I have completely misplaced ALL of our Pyrex lids. Not the actual dishes, just the lids. Every one.
last time we moved, I lost my pestle. Not the mortar, just the pestle. So now I've got this big heavy bowl in my cabinet without a matching stick but I don't want to get rid of the base because you know the next week that damn pestle would show up.
I'm missing something rather valuable that was a wedding gift from my grandmother. I'm in the process of a major cleaning right now because I need to find it. I just know I put it somewhere "safe".
I completely feel this. I "lost" a sapphire necklace for months and it was driving my crazy. But I knew it wasn't gone. I had put it somewhere safe. Anyway eventually I found it, completely safe, in a small jewelry bag that I swear I had checked three times. It somehow slipped behind the lining of the bag.
A spare set of keys. They have been missing for about a year. We have looked everywhere.
A hammer.
A tape measure.
A black skirt.
One of my dog's fabric diaper wraps. He wore it to bed one night. In the morning, he no longer had it on. We tore the bedroom apart. Still can't find it.

Right now, the CD with all of our wedding pictures on it. I've lost it probably no fewer than 5 times in almost as many years. It's a gold CD, so it always turns up, and I notice it because it looks different than all the rest, but right now it's gone.
Something I recently found that I thought I threw away was 1 of my moccasin slippers. I love them and they were kind of expensive for slippers, so I was pumped when the missing one showed up.
One of my arrow socks. Adorable socks that have little arrows on them. I have looked everywhere. Behind dressers. In the laundry room. Cleaned out the closet where the laundry hamper is. Looked in the cat's favorite hiding spots. Nothing. I had a serious meltdown when I had to go to Nationals without my arrow socks. My poor mom took that call.
I needed the scissors to cut off the payment coupons for State and Fed Tax Returns for FIL. I keep a pair in my desk and I NEVER.EVER use them and don't put them back. I ask H where he last used them. Oh no, he didn't take them....he would never not put them back. We search the house for 30 minutes (because the scissors from his desk are missing too, ugh) and suddenly, after giving up and using kitchen sheers, he comes towards me with the scissors from my desk. They were in plain site and on the stand on his side of the couch. You know, where I TOLD HIM TO LOOK the previous hour.
He went and put them back in my desk because he said he didn't want me to stab him with them.
We do this kind of exchange more often than I'd like.
A working pen. DH will put away pens that don't work well. It's disposable pen, darling...dispose of it.
The baby's socks. My DD will shake off her left sock and it will disappear. When I vacuumed the couch last weekend (Spring cleaning), I found five mismatched socks.
I lose my phone about 83 times a day. I am a sahm and we don't have a home phone so it gets a little annoying. I use the "Find my Phone" app ALL THE TIME.
The retracting measuring tape. I usually take it around and measure random places in our house that we need furniture, art, dreaming of a new kitchen design. Then I leave it in some random nearby spot and gave no idea where I left it.
YES! I need it to measure for blinds in 2 rooms and have been knocking myself out trying to find it. I am this.close to going to HD and getting one of my own and storing it where DH won't misplace it.

I have a mini one that I keep in my purse just in case I can't find one of our bigger ones. Unfortunately I told my husband about it one day and it went missing shortly after that. I think I may need to get a second secret measuring tape.
