Ninja Warriors is much more difficult and requires a lot more skill and conditioning than Gladiators ever did. I loved AG, but I can sit fascinated forever watching NW. Plus, I think it is cool that almost everyone who competes the course is not hugely bulky.
Wrong. AG was more game based where NW is more strength and skill based.
I can't believe I'm even thinking about this. I do love watching NW though.
Yup. And ANW doesn't pit people up against each other in goofy competitions. Ultimately, you are competing against the clock and the course. It doesn't matter what anybody else does.

Me too. Acrobats/gymnasts tend to do very well. It takes a lot more than juiced up muscles to complete something like this. There is a lot of agility and overall physical conditioning as well as strength training required.
I wonder how you put this on your resume, if you later go into a different field. I mean, let's say you get an MBA. But you were a ninja warrior for 3 years. You have to explain a gap that could otherwise make people think you were in prison, so I guess it goes on there. But the skills are hard to translate.

I think most of them still have regular jobs. The show makes the competition seem like it stretches out for months, but they really only commit to being there for a few days. It's just a lot of training outside of regular work hours (like ironman or heavy triathletes).
Ain't nobody got time for that, but more power to them.

Did they actually like fight each other in AG? With padded sticks or something? I dont think they do that in NW. I remember watching the shit out of AG a long time ago, but my memory is hazy and I've only seen clips of NW so I could be be completely wrong.Â

I see! Now I'm dying to know what their day jobs are. I really hope I find out that my dentist or whoever is a part-time ninja warrior.

I'm totally going to start picking all of my professionals this way.

American Ninja Warrior takes itself a little too seriously, imo. I enjoy it and am a fan of Kacy Catanzaro, but I like the more goofy aspect of American Gladiators. Then again, I also adored Wipeout and liked that it was supposed to be funny.

If I remember right there has been a dentist. There have been a couple of doctors. Several own or work in gyms. One of the more famous ones was a weatherman (his choice of term). Last season there was a lot of discussion because one of the guys had quit his full time job to train, everyone else still had regular jobs.

There's a girl who used to go to my crossfit gym who now trains exclusively for ANW. She trains at a gym that has obstacles and stuff set up for just that purpose. She's a hair stylist full-time.
I don't think they are the same at all. No way could Nitro finish american ninja.
I agree, they are not the same! I loved American Gladiators and the silly games and the silly courses. It was goofy and funny. ANW is more an individual strength/training competition. Very different.
