Oh, I will throw in one other rec that DH loves, which is The Tenderloins. Impractical Jokers is the funniest show you're not watching, if you're not watching. If you are, well, you know how funny they are. They're great on their podcast, too.
Eta-It's only in archives now, so if you don't see current ones, you're not missing anything.
I love This American Life. I recently listened to one of their podcasts (Three Miles) at least 3 times. It's incredibly well-done.
Other favorites include My Brother My Brother and Me, Stuff You Missed In History Class, How Stuff Works. I keep downloading How Did This Get Made? and most of the time I listen to the episodes even when I haven't seen the movie. LOL.
Stuff You Missed in History Class Stuff Mom Never Told You Stuff You Should Know Savage Lovecast Invisibilia Call Your Girlfriend Death Sex & Money This American Life Ask Me Another Sawbones: A Marital Tour of Misguided Medicine
I second "Stuff you Didn't Learn in History Class" and "Welcome to Night Vale". I also really like "Thinking Sideways" which is a lot of unexplained mysteries and missing persons. I like the creepy stuff :-)
It's done by a married couple--the husband is kind of a goof and the wife is a physician. They talk about the history of medicine with a different theme each week (bloodletting, syphilis, aromatherapy, spontaneous combustion etc.)

It's SO good.
I'm actually going to a live show this weekend!
One of the guys on Sawbones is also on My Brother My Brother and Me.

Oh! I listen to Tell 'Em Steve-Dave, another podcast Quinn is on, and I've heard him mention tenderloins but never realized it was another podcast for some reason. Might have to check it out!
I like: Girl on Guy (Aisha Tyler interviews people) Vinyl Cafe (basically Canadian This American Life, I think) Infinite Monkey Cage (funny BBC podcast about science) BBC news
I also like a lot of Kevin Smith's podcasts (Tell 'Em Steve-Dave is a bunch of his friends) but they're not for everyone

Snap Judgment! It's so good, and I LOVE the host. It's a different themed episode each week - I just listened to the Pariah episode, and one of the stories was about a man sentenced to minimum security prison, and the prison was shared with the United States' last forced leper colony. Crazy stuff.
This American Life Invisibilia Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me Ask Me Another Planet Money Freakonomics Slate Daily Podcast (different ones each day, particularly love the Political Gabfest) On Point with Tom Ashbrook Dinner Party Download
I'd love to listen to more, but I have trouble keeping up with the ones I have now.

I cannot get into this show and the host grates my nerves. I was really surprised because when I've heard excerpts on TAL, I've liked it, and it seems to be similar to TAL. I just can't get past the overdramatic intros from Glenn Washington. Do you have a favorite episode you'd recommend? Maybe I just need to start with a really good episode.
I don't know if you like reality television, but I like to listen to podcasts that discuss reality television episodes. I got started with Jason & Molly's podcasts about the bachelor and then moved on with RHAP (rob has a podcast)'s wrap-up episodes about survivor and mtv's the challenge. I'm kind of a reality tv junkie though

Hmm. I remember one from last year (I think?) about reunions that I really liked. There was a good scary story one from last year too - it's called Campfire Tales.
I agree with you that Glenn Washington can be overdramatic. Normally this drives me nuts, but I like it with him In the Pariah episode intro, he talked about going to a pow wow and not realizing until he got there and took off his sweatshirt that he was wearing a Cleveland Indians t-shirt. The set-up and delivery for the intro were really well done, I thought.
