I am trying to figure out what the eff to do with ours. It is hideously large and an enormous waste of space. There are a bunch of cabinets above the washer/dryer and another one under the utility sink.
The only thing I want to put in there is a table to fold clothes on.
It already houses a treadmill.
So, uhhh...what would you want in your laundry room?
No spider webs(with big ass or poisonous spiders), no geckos, no frogs, no cane toads, no worry about snakes (or any of the above mentioned critters) crawling into the dryer through the vent.
ETA: Ours is in a "room" on the back veranda, but it's pretty free and open to the critters the 6.5 days a week (and nights) that I don't use it.
I had an amazing laundry room in the city. It was large too, a converted bedroom.
Does it have a sink? I'm all over that for stain removal and soaking etc. Then storage around it for supplies.
Drying racks Shelves with bins for seasonal clothing. Storage for cleaning supplies etc. Dog food storage
I don't use drying racks. I pretty much throw everything in the dryer. I know this is wrong...maybe I will look for something that can adhere to the wall.
I live in Florida...my non-summer clothes fit just fine in the closet.
The other two things already are in there. I have seen some cool pictures of built in dog bowls that i would love. But that just because I hate having their bowls on the floor in there.
You could buy a piece of furniture to use as your folding table with shelving.
It sounds like maybe you just want/need to decorate it?
I definitely need to get a table. I currently throw the laundry on top of the washer and dryer and then fold it. Its kind of a pain in the ass and stuff is always falling behind.
I just sort of don't know what to do with it. Like, I feel like there is stuff I am not thinking of. The decorating is sort of secondary at this point.
Maybe I will look for some type of ironing board contraption to put on the wall.
-Utility sink with a shelf above it to store laundry supplies (presuming it is close to the washer and dryer) -hanging bar for items to be hung up straight from the dryer -drying rack -table to fold stuff on would be nice, but realistically I wouldn't use it much, since I fold my things onto my bed while I watch TV -shelves for storing cleaning supplies, buckets, rags, etc. -space to store my vacuum -hooks on the wall for storing mops, dusters, brooms, and any other cleaning thing with a handle -space for the cats' food and water, and somewhere to keep the food bin
Does it double as your mud room? If so, I'd want to add in individual cubbies for each person to hang coats, dump shoes, back packs, etc. Kind of like this:

Dot, I could do something like that but not as large. It wouldn't be a bad idea to modify it and have a place for keys/purse/backpacks and such.
Quesera, I don't think so. We have the treadmill in there but I don't care to have any other equipment in the room. In fact, I wish the treadmill were gone too because its such an eye sore.

I really want a utility sink and counter space. On pinterest I saw a laundry room that had a dog bath in it, it was basically a raised area that was waist height on 3 sides with a small lip on the back end and it was tiled and had a hand held shower head. I feel like I am not explaining this well but anyways I would kill for that in my dream home to wash my big dog. I feel like it could also be useful for a lot of cleaning, bucket filling, etc. purposes.
Mine is really small. You cant fully open the hallway door if the washing machine door isn't fully closed or not open to up against the wall. If someone comes in from the garage, it bangs the dryer door closed if you are trying to take out dried clothes. It has a clothes bar above the appliances and a shelf above it. There is a large closet but I would love a larger laundry room with room for a table to fold clothes.
Love this! Long, tall table for folding clothes, more hanging space than in this pic for hanging shirts and pants, TV to watch while folding clothes, clothes drying racks for laying items flat to dry.
