I had mid-cycle spotting last month and saw my doctor- she drew blood to test progesterone levels and said they came back normal (9.7 at 8dpo). We ended my visit with her telling me if I start spotting at any time during this cycle to call the triage line and let a nurse know. I started spotting CD21, which was a Friday night, so I called the office Monday. They let my doctor know and she prescribed Progesterone thinking my levels drop significantly causing the spotting. I was instructed to take 1 100mg pill orally starting CD17 until mensus. They had me start taking it right away this cycle, so I started on CD24. I am confused about the take until mensus part- the point of me taking the pill is to stop bleeding, so I am not convinced I will start my period like normal. My doctor was out of town but the nurse practitioner told me to follow the directions on the bottle. When I asked if there was a point that I should stop taking the progesterone if my period did not show up she told me that I should take a pregnancy test if there is no period- I am 90% sure this cycle is not a good one for us, so I am not expecting a BFP at all. She finally said that I could take it for 14 days straight and if my period does not come, stop until the next CD17.
My WWYD- would you stop it at 14dpo this cycle if a BFN so I keep my cycle somewhat normal, or would you take it for 14 days and see what happens? Has anyone taken progesterone and still gotten a normal period without stopping it?
I was prescribed progesterone for the same thing, and they said to take for 12 days, starting either 2 or 3 DPO (sorry, can't remember!). I'd stop too, if no BFP at that point.
I'm sorry you're dealing with this! It was really frustrating and scary for me.
Love of my life baby boy born 11/11. One and done not by choice; 3 years of TTC yielded 4 MMC and 2 CPs, through 4 IUIs and 2 IVFs. Focusing on making the world a better place instead...and running.

When I was just supplementing (no other treatments), my instructions were to start at 2-3 DPO, and test at 14 DPO if I hadn't started my period by then. If negative, stop the progesterone (and continue to test every couple of days if my period didn't show, just in case).
I have started my period despite being on progesterone, on several occasions.
Trying for #3; FET 8/18 -- BFN. Leaving things up to chance for now... After three years, three IVFs, and two FETs, we finally have our miracle babIES!
