This is the first year we had to pay in for state and federal. We cashed out an IRA last year (boo) to finish up some of repairs at the new house. It was unfortunate but unavoidable. At least we had put back more then enough for taxes. I just put the rest into restarting our emergency savings.

We actually got a refund this year from both! I was surprised! Last time we got a refund from federal but paid in to the state about the same amount so they almost evened out. This year we got a decent refund but nothing huge of course.
We got about $2,500 back and used it to pay down debt. We each got $100 to spend on fun stuff as well. Next year we will owe, so I need to start saving for that. Boo.
We get a return every year. This year and last year were both around 3k. The year after we bought our house we qualified for the first time homebuyers tax credit and had a return of 12k.
We got a very decent refund from federal. We used it to pay off the car and haven't used the rest yet. We got a few hundred back from the State. Still in our account, but it will be used for debt!
My h messed with his withholding, don't even remember why? But he messed it up. Was expecting a refund but ended up paying around $2500. Ugh!! He was SO pissed at himself.
we just filed yesterday. hoping for a decent refund, ~$3K. which will go to a down payment for a new car for me. thank goodness for medical expenses write-off. no state income tax, so we always get a refund.
Since DS made his appearance last year, we ended up with a refund. We would have had to owe if not for that. We just used it for hospital bills. No state, so didn't have to worry about that.
We ended up with a decent refund - combination of fewer bonuses last year and having a baby. Refund is going into our normal savings buckets...retirement, remodel fund, car fund.
Good. We got back. I was able to get new glasses (omg they were so expensive! Damn needing to see lol) and new tires on my car. We are using the rest towards our Disney trip in October. We are hopefully booking next week.
We owe $5k and this is on top of paying estimated taxes all year. We have about $700 in the checking account right now after writing out that fucking check. I'm so annoyed.
We got $600 back, which isn't bad, but is less than it could have been. Apparently we're too "rich" to qualify for tax credits in relation to being in school, having a baby, etc. This is freaking news to me.
I really want to get our taxes looked at from last year because we owed and it was the year we bought a house for the first time. I feel like now that I've done both, Turbotax online is more comprehensive than H&R block online.

We always have to pay state even though I claim single and zero exemptions, we both max out our 401k, etc. We did get money back from federal and overall got a refund. Curious to see how next year goes...we don't have my income (minus my maternity leave) but we also don't have my 401k or any mortgage interest. I'm assuming we'll still get a refund though but who knows.
